Sorted³ - Calendar Notes Tasks

The best part about using Sorted is the gestures available. They let you quickly reschedule tasks whenever delays or surprises inevitably come up. This is an extremely valuable feature for any app that is meant to directly plan how you spend your time each day. This makes Sorted close to being a great time blocking app. However, Sorted doesn't handle task durations well; it only really affects the auto-scheduling feature and doesn't do anything else other than act as a note for how long you set the duration. There is no visual indication that makes longer task look like longer than shorter ones. Worse yet, if you want to insert a task after one with some duration, the new task will be added to start at the same time. In other words, the duration doesn't help you insert tasks when you are not busy: you will have to adjust everything manually. It's a shame as this could be the best time blocking app, but it gives no effort to help you schedule your day around the time you have available (unless you use auto-scheduling, but some people prefer to plan their day in a way that makes sense instead of automakers). Other apps like Structured are much more popular as it helps people visualize their day and to plan tasks during their free time. If Sorted made the duration on tasks actually matter (which shouldn't change how the apps works much), it would give it some ability to help with the same kind of planning, and perhaps give it a leg up on some other planning apps.

I got this app about a week ago and have been using it ever since. It is a complete game-changer for me because it allows me to conveniently and quickly do exactly what I wished that I could do with Microsoft’s “To Do” app, which is to allow me to define an estimated time needed to complete each task in my to-do list and to synchronize with my Calendar app such that it automatically schedules those tasks around my existing Calendar appointments. It also makes it extremely convenient to change the sequencing of my tasks and to reschedule tasks for a future day if it shows me that I have been too aggressive in my planning for and don’t have enough time to get everything done in the current day. I’m now starting to explore some of the other features, such as defining tags which I can then assign to my various tasks. I expect that feature to be helpful when I want to look at tasks related to a particular topic, such as home projects versus tasks for work. So far, every feature seems to be useful and well-designed. Also, everything executes almost instantly, allowing me to quickly go through my calendar for the day and arrange it as I see fit, and to do so as quickly as I can think. I only have one bit of negative feedback, although it is a big one. The app is fabulous on my iPhone, but to be as useful as possible, I also need a Windows app that synchronizes with my iPhone so I can seamlessly go back-and-forth between the two. Or at least, if this app were to synchronize more completely with my regular Calendar app, such that scheduled tasks also appear there, it would be a lot better.

Update: So I have been using this app for few days now and I am really liking sorted way of managing my tasks. Sorted makes scheduling fun. It’s satisfying to slide left and select multiple tasks to merge them or slide a ruler to reschedule my tasks or split one large task into multiple small tasks. It’s all very intuitive and fun way to manage and organize stuff. I am able to get rid of fantastical and ticktick from my phone and only have agenda and notion for older notes. All my new things are going in sorted 3 right now. I am able to complete more of my tasks just because I am putting everything on my schedule now. 5 stars from me. I have been trying this app for couple of days now. I like it a lot so far. I have tried lot of other todo/note apps so far. Sorted has the potential to be all in one app if they allow entries without having to have a checkbox in front of them. Hear me out now. Not all items are the ones need to be completed. There are some reference items I want to keep it there forever. Having checkbox in front of them seems odd. To be able to toggle checkbox on or off for individual items would make sorted a true all in one app. They already have a support for file attachments so they are almost there. I have been using notion, agenda, TickTick and Apple reminders for different reasons right now. Sorted could eliminate the need of all other apps but notion for now. Chrome web clipper support would Be icing on cake if they can do that. Keep up the good work.
