I’ve used chip for a couple of years now purely for saving which I’ve been really happy with. Simple to set up and to deposit money (and withdraw when needed!). I like the AI savings feature and it’s good that recurring deposits are now free. I’ve recently dipped my toe into the stocks and shares ISA provided so it’s early days to comment on that. I did feel like there was a lack of clarity about how you use the app and the account to invest but I’m gradually figuring it out. I’d like to see a way of the app splitting the AI savings over a number of different accounts rather than just depositing it into one account. For example, I’d like 60% deposited into my cash isa, 30% into my stocks and shares then the remaining 10% into the instant access account. So when the day comes for your savings to be collected and deposited the app simply shares the money out in whatever way you’ve decided without any effort at all. I’ve no issues with recommending chip to anyone, keep up the good work please!
Been with you since the beginning pretty much and although I am REALLY poor, I was impressed that you managed to sneak money away from me and I could actually save... very cool! BUT now, not so good, the bigger and more popular chip has got it seems they have changed the way the program runs too much and bought in changes they thought would be better for the mass... thus no longer being any use for people like me. There is too much lag and they seems to sneak the cash from you now in more noticeable times which is not very good as monitoring my account is pretty easy. There is spending for a day or 2 when money goes in and then it’s all gone. So when take the money from my account days after money going in, it might only be a couple of pounds which doesn’t seem like much to some. Some of us however rely on that to buy a loaf of bread or a meal for the kids... yeah, it’s that bad, but in the beginning this app was advertised as being aimed at people like me. I’m sad to say it no longer works like it did if you really are in poverty. I link the app makers are more interested in more downloads then the customer base they first aimed at. Such a shame as I told everyone in the early days how wonderful this app was, now I swear every time it touches my pennies. 😏
Not sure if the team at Chip even read these reviews but I wanted to say a great big THANK YOU because with your help I've succesfully saved for my dream travelling holiday. I have the 5% interest (I was a very early sign up so got this without refering people which proabbly does make it slightly more appealing to me then than it does now) which is miles better than anything else on the market. Whilst my friends were trying all these small tips and tricks to put away money I knew that I had a handy little app which put my spare cash away for me. Like a few reviews I've read, I did experience a few technical issues but on every occasion I was quickly able to be connected through live chat to a member of staff who resolved the problem for me. I think the interface is super user-friendly and it really makes saving more of a fun achievement than a chore. Having the quarterly interest payments incentivised me not to withdraw money on a whim, like I have done with other savings accounts. Also, there have been occasions where chip have messed up but everytime the problems have been resolves quickly, efficiently and professionally. This review probably sounds like I've been paid to write it or that i'm a member of staff (that's what I normally expect from a great review) but I honestly just love this saving app. Thanks a lot and if you haven't got it yet, get on it!
