I love helping out other people whenever I can and this app makes that really easy to do! I think this is a wonderful app. My constructive feedback is that I never actually receive notifications when I have a pending request. I don’t know why, I have the notifications in my settings turned on. Not sure if it’s a bug but I just have to periodically open the app to check for requests. I would love to actually get notifications though so I could provide a quicker response when I can. Additionally, it would be cool to personally receive feedback from users—if they’d like to provide it. I’m trying to get better at my descriptions but I’d like to know how I could improve in a way that is most helpful.
There are a lot of great apps for the iPhone that I use to help with little tasks, but today I tried BeSpecular for the first time and I'm totally in love. I was going through my clothes, and noticed one of my shirts had a rip in it. I didn't want to throw it away without knowing which shirt it was for sure, so I decided to try this new one, and it's absolutely become my favorite. You take a picture, then are given the option of typing or recording your specific question about it. Then, unlike any other I've tried, it sends you multiple responses until you feel like you have the information you need. I stopped at six replies, two of which were spoken and four typed. One was less than detailed, but one lady's spoken description brought me to tears with her level of effort and care. I feel like I got everything I wanted and more. I can't recommend it highly enough. And if you're sighted and can spare a few minutes now and then to help someone, consider this awesome route. 💜
I live with chronic pain and sometimes need help, but my eyes work just fine! This is an easy and satisfying way to volunteer and pay it forward. My one criticism? Even though I have gone to settings and enabled notifications, I have never gotten even a single notification. (I periodically open the app to see if anyone needs help, but would prefer the app to simply notify me. I could do so much more than I am doing!)
BeSpecular is the best way to do a good deed so that even when you have a busy schedule, you can help someone who’s blind. As a blind/visually impaire...
