Now that theyโve fixed the bugs that kept my watch from syncing, it works like it is supposed to. Everything they intend the app to do, it does, and it does well. However, I want to be able to compare the graphs for each day to each other on a single screen. Currently, you can only see each dayโs graph individually. I want to be able to dive into the data for each day and see whatโs up hour by hour, at a minimum. There is so much they could do with this app and watch combination. The potential is there, their execs and designers just donโt seem to have the vision to make this app spectacular and really useful. I used to wear a Misfit, and they had a pretty great app. I feel like this app is sort of a downgrade. But I love the watch itself. Iโve been wearing it for several years, and itโs great. (and I wear one of the hybrids (the Activist- specifically because of battery life, and it looks like a regular watch) I HOPE that they continue making the older style hybrids without the digital screens. They are so great. Yโall should try them out. Can you imagine six months of battery lifeโฝ!!โฝ Sure, no heart rate monitoring, but do you really need that?
Please give us the ability to assign our own music controls in the music control mode, or at the last, the option to revert to different formats. I've loved my Fossil Hybrid HR for the ~2y I've had it, but the several changes to music controls in recent months have continued to make it worse and worse for me. ... The middle button - which previously served both to pause (tap) and the return to home (hold) - was simplified to only performing the latter in all modes. Not only does this lower the number of available quickly-accesses modes from 3 to 2, it also forces a remap of the 5 music control functions onto the remaining 4 input options, complicating the inputs mostly at the expense of the least used one (for the avg. customers): the rewind. ... While I'm surely an outlier, this was the watch's main function for me since I use it primarily for audiobook rewinds. Rewinds have gone from requiring taps (<1 sec); to requiring to holds (~1 sec); to requiring a hold to pause, holds to rewind, and a final hold to play again (>5 sec). Audiobook readers may require 1-10 presses per minute if a particular passage or line is difficult to understand. The feedback is also not instantaneous, so unlike before where I'll immediately hear the next words upon tapping/holding, I have to unpause to check where in the passage I am. What used to take <5 sec to input may take >20 now. This delay, along with the finicking with controls back and forth, disrupt my comprehension of I'm trying to understand, and so I probably end up taking 10x longer to get through difficult passages now. Simply put, it's not worth the effort and I just get my phone out now, so I don't use the smartwatch for anything but checking the time now. Fossil is great outside of this, but it does hurt to be in a niche group of customer that may be ignored.
Obviously, one watch/experience isn't gonna be for absolutely everyone. That said, I absolutely love mine. I like this better than the apple watch because of the way it looks. Im not a big fan of the square screen look, I like a regular analog watch-looking face better. I am a big fan of the notification system, which is really the draw for this watch. I find that especially in a conversation, when you don't wanna be rude, it's much easier to glance at your watch to see what the notification that you received is. The system isn't perfect, but it is far superior to taking out your phone. The survive model that I have is the fossil q crew master. It is very durable, and has a long battery life, which has gone down about 50% over the course of about ten minutes this. The watch straps are also very easy to switch out. I recently had an issue with a strap in which one of the pins that hold it in place broke and I brought it in to an outlet near me and they replaced it immediately with no hastle whatsoever. I do not personally use the sleep tracking or excersize tracking on this watch too much, because I am a very active personand don't really worry about it, but if you were in the market for an excersize tracking watch, I eouldnt point you towards this one. It's not that the system is terrible, it's just that other companies like Garmin do it much better. I do however, find it kind of fun to see how many steps I took today, etc. With some more intricate hardware, like buttons that not only can be pushed, but also detect rotation for things like music volume, etc, it could be an even better product. Unfortunately, this would also make it more difficult to use for people who are maybe less tech savvy. I just recently noticed that I was not able to set up MLB at bat as an app in the notification system, which is about disappointing, but not a deal breaker for me. Most apps like Snapchat, Instagram, Gmail, etc. Go through with no problem. If I were to sit down with the design team or software team that works on these products, I would have a few ideas that I think could make the product better, but overall I absolutely love it.
