Stringify

On the first day trying this app, my Nest thermostat product does not seem to work appropriately with Stringify. At night time in Colorado, when it’s freezing, the app does not set the temperature the way I want it at the exact time I wanted it to work. Nest thermostat [Heat - Cool] mode did not work. When you set the heat to certain degree, and you set your cool to a different degree, it will automatically follow the cool temperature and delete the heat temperature. So if you set it so that the heat will turn on at 60°F and have it cooled at 90°F, Stringify will delete the 60° and left it at 90° on its app. The app do gets annoying due to the lack of informations for new users. It gives a video tutorials, but it doesn’t give further explanations on its individual “things” on what exactly it would do or should do. But since my flow didn’t work anyway, it made me have to rate this app at 3 stars instead of 1. Why 3 stars, the other flows that works with lights, works, except when it deals with Nest. I had my flow to turn on Nest when the weather outside is low, and if the time has passed 1am and only when I’m home. But it didn’t do what I told it to do and the room is freezing cold at 3am with 2 kids in the house. Anyway, it seems like there are some bugs with Google/Nest products. Hopefully it gets fixed.

I’ve had this app for a while now. It has been fairly useful. My rating is for the app itself. However, they have just been bought by Comcast. I HATE Comcast. They have terrible customer service. All they new hype the Stringify people are trying to create is only based around Comcast based features. As I do not have Comcast, the “update” is nothing more than a SLIGHT visual upgrade. I found this app useful for some things (though I recommend Workflow and IFTTT so much more.) I can’t help but think I might delete this app solely because they sold out to a terrible company. If the next “update” doesn’t have actual, useful feature updates (to EVERYONE not just Comcast customers) I will delete this app forever. I don’t know why they allowed a Comcast to assimilate them, but I think it was a bad decision. I hope you stringy people read this and know that this user is disappointed.

I’m a big tinkerer. I often love finding out if I *can* do something more than I love actually *doing* that something. Smart home tricks are almost addicting to me. I’ve explored dozens and dozens of options; hubs, devices, interfaces. More often than not, Stringify has ended up being my answer when I come up with another trick I want up my sleeve. The magic comes from the ability to control multiple devices in a sequenced flow. It introduces linearity to smart home functions. This sort of temporal control is very hard to achieve elsewhere, nonetheless in a simple, intuitive, graphical interface. Any missing functionality can often be brought in via IFTTT integration, or maker web hooks. Stringify isn’t without its issues. However, the team is very willing to help you out, whether on the forums or via email. It’s a powerful feature set that will require a bit of learning, no matter how intuitive the process may be. The acquisition by Comcast makes me nervous, but I’m told by said Stringify team we can expect to enjoy Stringify as we have prior to the acquisition for the foreseeable future, which was a huge relief!! Please don’t change that, Comcast! Overall, in love with Stringify!!
