Nearly perfect. In terms of bugs, app crashes, buffering times, they just do not exists (possibly if your using a very old phone, but thatโs on you). Organization of the app however, needs major work. On the Home Screen if you do a premium course or any course or challenge over multiple days, after the first session, that challenge is nowhere to be found. Unless you remember the exact name, or teacher you listened to, itโs an absolute pain finding your recently played episodes. Right now I have to go into one of the teachers I follow and then scroll down to a 31-day challenge she was featured in, just to continue where I left off on that challenge. No workaround exists that I have found easily, and I feel like I have put in a very good effort trying to pin this challenge or save it to my dashboard, but nothing. Only thing you can save of follow after challenges is the teacher you most recently listened too.. not the challenge itself. This is very frustrating, but then again, I just meditate it off and feel better. Overall excellent, but organization and ease of finding challenges and multiple day, multi-teacher course should be able to be easily saved or pinned somewhere where you can just go and listen tooโฆ and folders arenโt a great feature. Itโs just kind of a mess. You should also be able to customize your Home Screen, or at the very least, your profile screen. So lack of this bumps it down a solid star
I became aware of the existence of this app during a professional training on Mindfulness. My roommate kindly shared it with me and I am forever grateful to her. It was in February of 2015. Ever since then this app became an important part of my daily life. It is simple to navigate, trustworthy and supportive. I can follow my mentors and teachers in their latest practices and techniques. Or, I can explore something new and out of my comfort zone. Being with IT helped me to keep my practice in meditation continue to grow stronger. It is truly my daily routine and inspiration. I enjoy the genuine communal feeling that the creators of this app were able to create. It makes me feel close to my relatives abroad, as well as all the IT virtual relatives that share similar interests and motivation. The idea of live events became a prodigy. Ironically, pandemic made our IT community stronger and more resilient as you can always rely on a โjust right โ practice to be available for your emotional needs during these uniquely trying times we are living right now. To the Team of those who keep a loving eye on this app and check its pulse with far more insight and vision that I can imagine, all my Love, Gratitude and Best Wishes. ๐Just continue to Be. Quick suggestion/inquiry: is it possible to create a reminder within this app for the live events? Something akin to the alarm clock on the day of the event, maybe within one hour of its start? Just a thought. Namaste โ๏ธ
Our family has loved Insight Timer for years now. Nearly every update has been an improvement on an already great app. We use it when putting our little ones to bed at night (and weโre too exhausted to tell them a story or sing to them ourselves). My 8-yo particularly loves Cori Cochiolo, especially her Heidi, Cherry, and Vaya series. Our kids often turn it on when they go to sleepovers, especially if theyโre having trouble falling asleep. Their friends usually start using it, too. Personally, Iโve used it for myriad thingsโฆ. Itโs a fantastic support / encouragement for staying consistent with my meditation practice. It helps me fall asleep, whether that be music, stories, or guided meditations. It helps me go back to sleep. Sometimes I've participated in their courses and challenges (Iโd like to do more of them). Iโve reconnected with some of my favorite Kripalu teachers from years past, who are active on this site. Iโve even found super helpful sessions that help me wake up in the mornings with a positive mindset (even before coffee!!). I could not recommend this app more highly. The options are endless, and you can financially support the content creators as/when youโre ableโฆso you can use it regardless of your financial state. I view it as having a personal meditation โtrainerโ come to my home a few times a day, for support and guidance. For me, thatโs priceless.
I joined insight timer at the end of 2020, to find a way to help me sleep. I found a teacher I loved, that taught abhyanga - I had never heard of this, but The teacher made it so intriguing, I had to learn more. This teacher was a absent for a while, and soon I found the IT morning meditation challenge in 2021. That expanded my mind even more. But still, I didnโt spend much time on IT. Not until I had major surgery and could take time off from work. I dove into daily lives, and the world seemed to open up. I feel more grounded now, more hopeful, more held. I now follow a few teachers every time they are on, I do my best to join in the lives. Now, I am going back through the massive library of meditations, bedtime stories, music, talks, to fill the spaces in between. There is literally something for everyone - movement- like yoga and dance, massage, music, singing, art, journaling, book club/ readings, spiritual teachings, Christian teachings, psychology, Ayurveda, readings, astrology, etc! The list goes on! and lives offered at all times a day to suit your time zone, many teachers record their lives, and have other recorded offerings. Maybe best of all are the groups, so you have a community of people with similar interests. Thank you Insight Timer! Next I will sign up for the very low cost annual membership so that I have access to another entire library of courses. Thank you for being here for all of us! It is really a magnificent gift to the world.
I use to love this app and for years it was my favorite app, but it no longer is able to manage itโs basic functionality. The timer function constantly pauses during calls and wonโt restart no matter what, or just completely shuts down during sessions. The Insight support usually has the same tired response, re-download it etc. etc, but nothing is working. That and the app would also loose my day count for meditation whenever I flew out of my time zone. The app was sold several years ago and their became a rapid shift towards competing with other mindfulness apps like Headspace and Calm. It is clear that the new developers are much more interested in creating a new age social network and promoting different healers, many of which seem unvetted. All of this functionality seems fine, but to let go of the basic timer function is disappointing and doesnโt seem like much of a technological challenge. Bottom line this should be called INSIGHT SOCIAL NETWORK or CHEAP GURU, but when TIMER is in your name and you canโt even keep time, whatโs the point. They also donโt really give a crap about customer complaints because this is now years that I have been dealing with this issue. In the end, I lost my Zen due to my meditation timer app which is a dark joke in itself. Goodbye insight!
