HotSpot Parking

It’s a good app. It works well and is easy to use. I like that I can get refunds for parking. However, it needs one update. Where I park, the street meters have a letter and number. Such as: A 1100, B 1100 and so on. From what I can tell, I can only enter the number. It doesn’t seem possible to enter the letter first.

Why on earth does anyone ever decide to use this service for their parking? They force you to add $10 to your wallet to pay $1.25 for parking. I visited a town with them once and now I just straight up lost that extra money. Why can’t you just be like ParkingKitty and take the amount that I need to spend and charge a small fee instead of making me waste money like that. On principal I’d rather get a parking ticket than have to deal with this ridiculous, money-grabbing app. On top of that, the signup process is exceedingly slow, and isn’t coded to work with Apple’s autofill, so I had to manually type everything in. Just bad all the way around.

I don’t know how Charlottetown PEI chose this app for their parking meters because it is the least user friendly, most blatantly money-grubbing app I’ve ever seen outside perhaps dating apps. As a visitor, I had to pay $10 minimum to park, plus a $2 membership fee billed annually, and had to know EVERYTHING about my RENTAL car including the year it was manufactured. It took 15 minutes to work through the sign up process and then afterwards I am left feeling angry. Some vacation experience there, PEI. I’d think your local tourism reliant economies would demand more of you. And to the developers of this app, seriously? You guys are the textbook example of bad ux and bad app design. I could write 30 pages on your mistakes.
