Hong Kong Mahjong Club

This is by far one of my favorite authentic Cantonese mahjong game. However, the developer has missed the mark on the “Wind”. It was never accurate. Then, the game sometimes has a glitch on “Self pull 自摸”. It will have one of the player pays the money instead of all 3 players. Then, the annoying “missing Suzhou boat” stays on for so long that the banner blocks the player from selecting the card. I hope the developer will fix’s these bugs.

There are many versions of Mah Jong, and once you get used to this version, it's fun and is less frustrating. I believe it's based on the Hong Kong version, with restricted rules, depending on the room or "club" you are in. The restrictions are noted once you enter. I've gotten to play a variation where you can get all pongs or consecutives--as long as it adds up to the minimum fan requirement. My only problem with this app is that I was unable to register and be in the ranking/ hall of fame. It gave me an error when I registered so that takes some of the fun out. Also, are we playing with real players or with the computer? At times I can't really tell... Sometimes I think they are all computer players...just because of how fast they take turns, but on the other hand, that is the speed you're supposed to be playing at. So who knows!

There are multiple “mahjong parlours” and each parlour has different rules. The North Point parlour says at least one FARN to win and maximum 8 FARNS per winning game. Kwun Tong parlour requires minimum three FARNS before you can win a game and maximum 10 FARNS per winning game; “flowers” not counted as FARNS. Yuen Long parlour also requires three FARNS to win a game and “flowers” are counted as FARNS. So if your winning game contains 11 FARNS, u will only get 8 FARNS for the North Point parlours and 10 FARNS for the other two parlours. For the person who thought you had a winning game but somehow the app is forcing you to throw your winning tile, chances are you don’t meet the minimum FARN requirement per the specific parlour you are playing in. There are other parlours that have different rules but they are locked for me. Anyway, as far as the rules are concerned, I think the app is correct and this is probably one of the Hong Kong style mahjong apps around.
