I've been using this app for over four years, and I appreciate the user-friendly interface and layout for managing my budget effectively. However, I've encountered some issues recently that I believe could use attention. In the past year, the app has been crashing frequently and has started to take longer to load. Sometimes, adding one expense takes 30s. Additionally, I've noticed a bug with the graphs that displays incorrect numbers; for instance, when my maximum balance should be 5K, it sometimes shows 250K. Given these performance issues, I feel it's fair to adjust my rating to three stars until these bugs are addressed. I really hope the development team can resolve these problems soon, as I would love to give it a higher rating again in the future.
To effectively manage a budget, i have to be able to look at the budget DAILY and see that I am on track. This is not feasible now because major purchases unnecessarily throw me off budget. For example, if I buy today a $5,000 family getaway including airline tickets and hotels, and the trip is scheduled to occur next year, I’d like to be able to spread the $5,000 across the specific days of the trip. Similarly, if I buy a sofa or a new iPhone, or a car(!). I now have this major purchase that unnecessarily throws me off my monthly, and possibly annual budget. If I could spread the expense across its lifetime, that problem goes away. This would enable me to look at the budget daily, and see how I’m doing. Specifically, what I need is: in the budget view the ability to set an accrual schedule for a transaction - when does it start, and across what period to spread it. This feature already exists for Cash transactions. All Spendee needs to do is enable this logic in the Budget view. So I spread the iPhone across, say, 4 years. And I spread the getaway package across 2 weeks, starting on the first day of my getaway.
Spendee is a great app. In the app, the free version includes manual purchase entries, a line chart of income/spending, and a pie chart of what you have spent your money on. Within manual purchase entries, there are category selection, the ability to write a description, as well as the ability to add photos to the entry. The visuals in the app are clear and as far as I have used that app I have not experienced any bugs or glitches. Personally, I have no experience with the premium version of the app because I had no use for it due to the fact that it was focused on being able to connect your bank account (I do not have a bank account). Some negatives of the app are actually just things you can get in the premium version of the app. One is that I have multiple income sources but was not able to add wallets because it is a premium feature. The only negative that would not be fixed with premium is that I am unable to change my default currency. Whenever I attempt to do so in the app it switches back when I put in an entry. Overall I highly recommend this app. The positives far outweigh the negatives and though analysing multiple different apps this app, I believe, is the best one. Compared to other apps its graphics are clear and the colours in the app are nice. This app also does not have advertisements which a lot of other apps include. The only thing I would suggest to the developers is fixing the default currency glitch. If you are looking for an app to organise your money and be able to keep track of your spending, this app is the one!
