ELEGOO Matrix

This app works fine to control basic features such as hot plate and nozzle temperature plus you can monitor it via the camera while away from the office or home. This would be a 5 star app if they made more of the print library available. I keep running into “coming soon” or must open by slicer program on pc. You also don’t have any dynamic control over the prints, such as making them bigger or multiples. Also, you have to dig through menus to find out your recent print history. This should be at the very top, but it only allows you to show prints that you’ve recently browsed and that can make it hard if you’ve spent some time on the library. On the whole this app has really taken off over the last few months as I think more people are discovering it. I really hope the developers add more control features and make more prints available.

If you expect anything more from this app than basic print monitoring, you will be disappointed. That is not whst this app is for. This is a convenient way to access your Elegoo printer’s camera so you can keep tabs on your print without having to be tied to your computer. It also has other functions, like on-the-fly resin exposure changes so you can increase or decrease exposure (if for instance you habe a temperature probe in your printer or emclosure and see it’s fluctuated, you can adjust the exposure so you don’t over or under expose the prints because of those fluctuations) and it updates immediately. They’ve even recently added status ipdate notifications to let you know when your print calibration is done and when your print has completed (and I assume there would be notifications if it detected an issue; thankfully I haven’t had any print issues since this update.) My only gripe is that it’s kind of bad at its sole function. I don’t mean the camera angle or quality, I specifically mean connectivity. If I’m printing a long print, yknow, something that I would definitely need to be able to monitor reliably, the camera will disconnect about halfway through it (typically after 4 hours.) Why there’s no automatic refresh is beyond me, but, until this issue is fixed I can’t give it 5 stars. I’m hesitant to even give it 4, so I won’t. I have contacted them about this issue, so hopefully they’ll figure out how to fix it. Overall, great app. Just wish it was better at doing what it was built to do.

The camera in the printer is a great idea for auto leveling and catching failed prints early. However, why is the camera unable to move? And honestly I can barely see the print anyway. I know it only starts recording once the print hits 100 mm (which is also weird imo). but it’s an incredible printer with so much potential, and I feel the same about this app. I’m giving it 3 stars with hope for a movable cam in the future which easily makes it 5.
