Dogtra PATHFINDER2

I love the system. It’s been roughly 3 months of use daily and the collar is doing everything I wanted it to do. My boy is very adventurous and excitable with animals and other dogs. He is extremely friendly and wants to say hello to everyone and everything. When I initially did research I saw the other brand gps collars but didn’t like the idea of paying monthly fees. Then I found the pathfinder 2 and it was more than I could ask for. As a training only collar, I would not choose it, though now with the compass remote that is coming out, I suspect it would be incredible. The app works well and as intended, the gps collar does take a few minutes to connect in cloudy skies but so does anything with gps so I kind of expected that. The efence works well though as others have mentioned it’s kind of difficult to redraw your maps or change boundaries easily, as you have to basically erase the existing map to make a new one. I have trained My dog to recall to the beep. He does not like the vibrate which is what happens at the first boundary, if he goes beyond that it will give him a correction. My only complaint: I should’ve waited a couple months for the compass but unfortunately I had no clue it was coming. Wish I had known ! I’ll have to save up to get the connector at some point.

I got the PF2 mini collar for the e fence function in the hopes of keeping my GSP 10 yards away from two sides of our chain link fence, because all she wants to do is run to the corner and bark at the neighbors despite having several acres she can run around in. We have a new puppy, and I don’t want him learning that habit from her. Bark collars haven’t done the trick and the last one she had malfunctioned and gave random corrections. We are five days in and I think we hit the correct level of correction because she is clearly trying to avoid the boundaries and barking has been cut by probably 90 percent. GPS has been very accurate. It is also nice to be able to remotely give her a reminder if she goes outside the boundary. Improvements I’d love to see are an easier pairing process, an easier way to modify sections of the boundary without starting over. I’d like to expand the outer boundary a bit but I have to delete inner fences and several of the outer fence posts to do so and there is no easy way to ensure I’m putting the boundaries I don’t want to change in the same place. This is important because my dog now knows her boundaries and is trying hard to respect them. The other improvement that would be nice is the ability to create slightly smaller inner boundaries and to be able to considerably share fence posts with other boundaries or to add on three sides to bump in an area inside the outer boundary.

Update: “I’ve grown to love it after multiple uses. While it does take some time for the collar to connect, I usually turn the devices on way before arriving to my hiking destination and let them connect to the app on its own. Then the signals pickup throughout the drive and stay connected throughout. As for the beeping, I removed the beeping issue and I have no more problems!” When turning on the remote, there is an instant connection to my phones app. However, when turning on the collar, it seems like it takes forever to sync with my phone. It takes at least 5 minutes to get the dog collar recognized by the app. I’ve tried with cellular / wifi and without. I wished it connected instantly like with the remote. Secondly, if your app is not running in the background, the remote beeps loudly and it can be annoying at times. I’d rather the phone vibrate or ping 1 notification that it has been disconnected. Or have an option to turn the beeping off
