Defender Guard

Notifications appear and aren’t camera notifications but spam to buy stuff from them. App is hard to navigate, pages are confusing and don’t quite make sense the way they’re organized so the user experience is awful. Recently had this expensive camera go offline for no reason. Following the prompts to remedy and half-way through it says to push the reset button without telling you where it is - there’s just a pic of an arrow pointing to the LED light which is just a repeat of the previous page’s graphic. Try to find info in the app showing where the reset button could be located before climbing up a ladder and can’t find a user guide anywhere within the app. Maybe it’s there, maybe it isn’t but the stupid way it’s set-up, I’ve gone in circles for the last 15 minutes and couldn’t find it.

I have tried several cameras, these are great. The wireless feed went to my router perfectly. My router is a Comcast gateway. I did not have to configure anything to use the 2.4 ghz connection. You need an ac outlet to plug in the cameras power. The video is good, and that’s the wireless part. Ignore the reviews that say “not wireless “. My only complaint is that the Touch ID login will not work. My iPad has that feature but when I try to activate it on the menu it tells me a fingerprint is not set, very frustrating.

I have been using two of the Guard 2k cameras for a few months in remote locations. Picture quality is excellent as is the field of vision. Control features are sufficient and the App is intuitive. I like the local video storage with no “cloud” or paid external storage required. My internet speed is a bit slow in my remote location but the cameras still operate well with upload speed at half spec at times. I have found tech support to be great the one time I spoke with a person. Note that 115 Vac power is required. “Wireless” applies to the internet connection. One minor improvement would be an articulated mount that covers side to side motion along with the up and down movement of the present mount design. Overall, these cameras are an excellent value so far in my opinion.
