Hi, I am writing this from the heart no chat gpt generated nonsense but I feel as though in lieu of the current state of our world and our country seeing as we have seemingly confirmed the corruption in our system now is the time more than ever to have a space for blk people to continue to share the truth and our communities connected and i’m proposing the perfect way to do that is to overhaul this app keep the same branding and overall look but remove the dating aspects and change it to a social media app with an algorithm that allows users to make short form or long form content from other blk creators. This will ensure we always have an outlet where truth while be shared and our people will remain aware to prevent ever returning to previous historical times where the narratives where more easily changed over time. Obviously, I know there’s the monetization aspect of it all where the app needs to generate money but I feel as though previous examples of social media platforms have provided a template for how to effectively make that work. I genuinely believe this is a NEED in a time of great demand for truth and a success story waiting to happen. I don’t want anything from this that’s not my agenda here all I want is for you to give it a thought. God Bless 🙏🏽🫡
It’s only getting 5stars because i’ve met the GREATEST man on this app. It’s been 3yrs & counting we’ve been locked in.. & before him I’ve met some ok people, really COOL people, actually. NOW onto the CON: is it really “black singles, black love” orr??? because it’s seeming like a lot of people that aren’t “black” are getting on to find people that really ARE black, and it’s coming across as a fetish. Black people are not meant for the others’ fetish desires, it’s apps out there for people that want to interracially date as well, they can get on those. & If it’s okay for every other ethnic background to get on then at this point it’s deemed as false advertisement to make it seem like it’s solely for black people when that’s not the case. If all backgrounds can get on then say it’s meant for everyone and don’t make it seem like it’s only dedicated to black people, especially with the abbreviation “BLK”, i’d think that stood for BLACK but i guess it’s not. Also, the ELITE subscription is a bit pricey, i love being able to see my likes because i hate for it to pile up, and being able to retract an accidental swipe is cool, i wish it was possible with “super likes” i’ve accidentally done that as well. Another thing is, there’s been kids lying about their ages on here too. I was going through my likes and saw an account with a KID that looked no older than 12 claiming to be 19, and another that looked 16 claiming to be 24..i think ID verifications are gonna have to be in order because it’s gross knowing it’s easy for someone to create an account and lie about their age while it’s real adults on this app.
BLK is a solid dating app functionally for melanated people. The dating app is great for finding matches in your local area. It offers visibility to homebodies any “out and about-er” wouldn’t come across. The app also has some cons like the customer care representatives of the community guidelines can block aspects of your profile bio at will without warning first thus blocking your profile uniqueness to matches. They will notify you at some arbitrary point after of what’s been blocked but never allow you to correct or mitigate an offense they deem you committed regardless of customer care rep correspondence. Nor will the reps tell you exactly what is wrong when you get in touch with them so they’ll just remove your profile content without identifying the exact offense. Also the distance you set to locate matches will be completely ignored after so many passes or likes. Finally BLK will disregard the preferred sex of your choosing and present all sexes regardless of gender on the Dating side of the app. Whats the point of putting a preference of which sex when it’s ignored anyway? Should be updating to include all genders and worked to abide by that preference. Keep all this in mind when you download the app. To reiterate be weary of the community guidelines upon signing up as they are quite vague and up for interpretation but STRICTLY ENFORCED. I believe this app could be much more attractive, user friendly, and worthy of a 5 star review if the developers addressed the issues of this review.
This app name is misleading because it allows every race/ethnicity, which wouldn’t be a cause for concern if the “name” and slogan/headline would be changed. It’s a bait and switch theme to pander to African American people for “good ratings”. However, like many other things, it’s not about us and not for us. There are better apps such as Facebook dating, Bumble, Match, POF etc., Customer Service? What is that? What’s the point of having an app for people to meet if you are doing everything in your power to remove that opportunity. Plus, if you look through the reviews, almost everyone has had the same experience so thousands of people who don’t know one another, can’t be lying. I hadn’t been on this app in almost two years, and that’s telling enough. They allow predatory behavior, vulgar language, and disrespectful behavior towards people on here. If you report it, nothing will happen! Another hollyweird app.. I wouldn’t recommend this app to a dog! Edit per Apple suggestion: there’s no need to contact you all when y’all practice is to play games with the exact consumers you’re fishing for. I’ve reached out before with no resolution, so why would I waste my time doing so again? I wouldn’t dare recommend y’all to my network, friends, or even people that I’m passing by. Take a look at all of those reviews and see which entity is playing games, it’s YOU ALL. Good day
I’ve had this app for a few years now with no issues, and all of a sudden the app decides to disable my account. So I email customer service and there are supposed to get back to you with in 48 hours ( which is a lie I waited almost a week for a response!) they first responded that they would take this to the higher ups and then a few days later one responded that it was a technical error and app should be fixed now, the next rep responded that I violated their terms and was removed because of this. I then proceeded to ask what terms I violated and they responded that they couldn’t tell me due to privacy reasons ( so you cant tell me about my own account great). Horrible customer service I called in and a rep with a really heavy accent said something about having my Snapchat info on the bio and deleting my account to make a new one. ( doing that didn’t help I’m blocked so every account I make keeps being disabled ) their reps are incompetent that rep obviously didn’t know what a hold button was kept me on hold with no music. And kept giving me the run around. Their follow up is horrible and their communication between reps is as well how does one rep tell me technical issues and the other says violation get if together people. If I could give them 0 stars I would! My sc info was in my bio for years now why didn’t you flag a warning and remove the info it’s not that serious. The way this app handles people is ridiculous. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP PEOPLE!
What more can I say, I was able to have interesting conversations with individuals I would likely never have encountered irl. I met the love of my life and ultimately deleted the app. Feedback I got from men though, was that apparently they’ve been having a tough time with discerning if a person was on there to meet people or boost their various online profiles. (You know which kind I’m talking about). My profile was sort of cryptic, to be fair. On occasion this prompted men to aggressively try to attain my socials. I think asking users to answer a few basic compatibility questions in their profile might offset this. The app also regularly reminded me that I had downloaded it which encouraged me to use it and respond to messages and new matches more often. I enjoyed the cute and sometimes cheesy reminders about how I was breaking hearts and to not keep my matches waiting. I don’t have any complaints really, because I met someone that I love deeply so everything feels all rosy now. I am a conventionally attractive, well read, socially conscious, 30 something - so I’ve never had trouble meeting people in real life, I merely wanted to fish from a lake or faster moving river as opposed to a small pond.
