Bid Whist

I’ve had this game for years, and while the new update is a nice change in graphics, the game play has suffered due to a number of bugs. 1. There are frequent instances where the round of bids doesn’t complete and the game freezes. This happens at least 1 out of 3 times I play the game. 2. When set to allow low bids to beat high bids, it still acts as if the player that bid high won the bid, but low cards win in their chosen suit. The cards are not organized in the hand for a low bid, and the low bid player gets penalized if the bid is not met. 3. With the low bid setting, if I as the only live player tries to bid 4 low after another player has bid 4 high, it is not an option. Can only bid 4 no or higher. 4. If phone is turned to landscape, the screen is disproportionate and the game cannot be played in either landscape or portrait orientation. I’m sure there are more bugs, but these are the biggest and most annoying that I’ve found so far. I hope the next update fixes these bugs, and if not, I would like to know how to revert to the old version.

I’ve been playing this game for more than 12 years. Looking at the app’s history, this is the first update in several years so the recent update is long overdue. I want to like the game and the app but this just isn’t working. Since installing the update this morning, this happens repeatedly: Bidding is complete. Then the screen reads “waiting for bids” and it won’t go away. I don’t need to have my bid suggested. I don’t need to know how many books are needed to win; I know that. I don’t care to see the game replayed. The opening video is cute but is that contributing to the glitch? There’s no way to get Help. A tab shows briefly on the page after the video but not on the next page. This isn’t fun. I hate giving the game a bad rating and, if I could reach a help page, I wouldn’t. But this isn’t good. At all.

If I could have given no stars, I would have and this is why:1st - the game or algorithm cheats. I know this due to 90% of deals, I get cards between ‘3 & 10’ right down the middle and in Bid Whist we all know there is no middle bid;2nd - the assigned partner, has to be the dumbest player in the history of the game. They never have their bid, always bidding what I, their partner has in reference to, low or high, and even if I, their partner wins the bid, their ability to follow what has been played, is nonexistent. I know this by the 100% of the time, they, after winning a hand, comes back, after the hint from me, their partner and bid winner, with a different suit that benefits the opponent’s hands;3rd - the kitty, never, and I’ve been playing this game for sometime, and can only remember once, that it matched my bid. I’m not saying that every won bid the kitty should provide an advantage. However in the real world and with other app BidWhist games, the balance is much better and more realistic then this app’s best day;4th - better ‘option’ control is necessary. Maybe some of your players like a dumb partner. By allowing better options, like controlling the games difficulty level, could improve your bottomline rating. You all (developers), know you can fix this and do much better with the upgrades. You have a product that can bring accolades and reviews that are rewarding and much better than your current average, if you showed you are concern and care about real change. Fix these issues and do so by talking with some real old school BidWhist players!
