Easy & fast for small amounts using Apple Pay

The app has a clean interface although the from account and to account can stand out a bit more from UX perspective. The transfer is near instant if you’re using Apple Pay and rate is pretty good. I ran into payment failures for larger ie greater than $10K amounts and support was not very helpful in diagnosing the issue. I think it was mostly due to bank imposed restrictions not directly related to Aspora but they should give clearer guidance around this

What the heck

My wife recommended that I use this app to transfer the money because she saw it on some social media. I was highly skeptical and straight away told her that I won't use it because it must be a scam but then she convinced me to try it out. For the verification, it asked for my SSN number and I uploaded a snapshot of my driver's license. Almost instantly my verification was done. I tried sending $500 first so that she could get the referral bonus. To my amazement the moment I did the double tap on my iPhone and used Apple Pay to make the payment, before I could get the confirmation email from Aspora, I got the confirmation email from my Axis bank that the money was transferred. I was amazed. I verified that the amount was actually transferred. I did it again with a higher amount, like $3,500, and again it went through. I am a developer. I am ware that when paying through Apple Pay debit card or credit card there is merchant fee that somebody has to pay. Most often providers who take Apple Pay or a debit card or a credit card pass it on to the customer but in this case it wasn't. It was completely free. I was like if somebody is giving me the option to pay using Apple Pay I would always choose that if it does not add any extra fee instead of adding my bank account details because this thing is super fast. It was instantly transferred even though the app was saying that it would take like two hours. This is great. I think I would highly recommend this. I'm using text-to-speech to write this review because I am lazy.

Broken Process

Weirdest process I have encountered while remitting large amount. I initiated a transfer from my US account to India account and everything seemed to go fine. Money got deducted from my US account but when it didn’t get to my India account, I went on the app to check. It was showing an issue with the transfer with a pending action on me. Note that they didn’t send me any kind of notification for it. The action required was for me to share a proof of fund in the source account by sharing a bank statement. This seems bizarre that they are asking for proof of fund after deducting the money from my account. Now, I had transferred money in my US checking account from my Fidelity account brokerage account just to remit to India. So if I share the bank statement from previous month it won’t show the proof of funds. If I share the current balance it won’t show the fund. Apparently I am at a dead end while my money sits in Aspora’s account. I tried reaching out to customer support. They gave me an ETA of 4-6 minutes but even after 21 minutes I am still waiting!!
