ACV Auctions

From a usability standpoint, love virtually everything about the app, it’s fairly easy to use and intuitive. I do hate the fact that there is no way to see your payment/account information in the app- instead you have to log onto the actual website. My biggest issue however has to do with notifications. For over two years I’ve worked with various tech-support folks from ACV in an attempt to get notifications working on my iPhone/iPad. It seems to be a problem across the board as a various employees have also struggled with a lack of consistent notifications. (Mainly notifications when vehicles that fit certain search criteria/parameters are listed and up for auction) Randomly, they will work for about a day or two, and then won’t for months on end. This results in missing various vehicles that we would like to bid on. No one can seem to find a solution. Very unfortunate- especially because when the notifications work, it’s a great system. It’s a shame that ACV can’t find app developers to fix this issue as I imagine it’s hurting business- we personally have missed out on hundreds of cars due to not being notified that they were up for auction. OPENLANE (similar platform) has much more reliable notifications.

After purchasing over 200 vehicles on this platform I learned valuable lessons. For a seller this is awesome, the inspectors are very open to $tips and are paid by vehicles selling that they inspect. We received alot of vehicles that were staged for photos and missing parts. If something is listed as not working or light on the entire system can be stripped out of the vehicle and photos purposely taking to hide those areas. We received one vehicle that had been on fire underneath and the undercarriage photos wasnt present for that reason and no coverage applied. One with convertible top not working and the pump, all control modules and wiring cut out of vehicle and purposely didnt lift trunk mat to show the carnage. (They did cover the missing spare tire for that one though 🤦‍♂️) Titles are a whole other story, we were forced to wait for over a year in some circumstances and they would not unwind. Lots of horrific fluid leaks are hidden on purpose. Once you get a vehicle unwound and it gets reinspected and relisted you will instantly know what they hide and how they do it. Had multiple vehicle with bad engines and transmissions relisted and not announced even though they knew what was wrong just to move them to the next poor soul. Very poor ethics over all.

Acv has gone above and beyond for our business. We are a small dealer that uses this auction service daily. We have been able to grow our business through their auctions with less fees and great inspections. We have purchased over 100 units from acv with only 4 vehicles that were arbitrated. Great policies and great customer support. They are there to answer the call when needed and our dealer rep Liz goes above and beyond for us.
