Very impressed

I am a person with dyslexic and this is helping me a lot as an adult. I still see the letters misconfigured because of my dyslexic letters always seem to look different. One letter will look like a regular E and then it would look like some Chinese letter or backwards some people C letters moving others just don’t understand this what’s dyslexic it does not correct my issues, but it actually helps a lot whoever created this app you have no idea how happy I am. I wish this app came out when I was younger. Thank you very much.

I love this app!

I’m currently a literacy specialist student and researched this app for a class. I’m considering using it now with my students. I really the simplicity of this app as it doesn’t have any “fluff.” If being used to help students learn a specific a skill there shouldn’t be too many distractions from the purpose. There are plenty of other apps with all kinds of games and bells & whistles, but I really like how it’s straight up with practicing letter names and sounds! The purpose of this app isn’t lost! Thanks!

Kindergarten Teacher’s Review

As a teacher with many years of experience dealing with young students, I feel I can give credibility to both the critics and the developer of this app. As someone well versed in phonics, I agree with the critics that the letter L sound is being mispronounced by the young girl’s voice. However, I agree with the developer that many people add an extra vowel sound onto the ending several letters when they pronounce them. In my assessment of the letter L disagreement between critics and the developer, I found that the mispronunciation the young girl is displaying is not in the ending sound of the letter L, but in the initial (starting) sound of the letter L. It sounds like her tongue is not fully touching the roof of her mouth when saying the word, thus causing the mispronunciation. She is not developmentally ready to correctly pronounce the letter L sound. After all, she does have a young voice, so she is saying the letter L appropriately for her age. However as she ages, she will correctly be able to say the initial letter L sound. Until then, I would suggest the developer get an older child’s voice to say the letter L. Finally, to the developer, I would agree with the other critic that there should not be a separate button where a child has to press it to hear the letter name. The child should be able to hear the letter name first, then the letter sound when clicking in any button. In my experience in working with a variety of young kids in the classroom, they don’t take that extra time to click on a separate button to get the name of the letter. Therefore, they won’t learn the name of the letters. So, I would suggest changing your app to merge both the letter names and letter sounds onto one click of a button instead of two. Lastly, please add a picture for the letter x like X-ray and repeat the sound like x,x,X-Ray. Until this app changes based on my suggestions, I cannot rate this app higher than 3 stars.
