I have had and adored this app for the entire two years it has been out. When YouVersion sent an email announcing its new app and what it did, I was beyond exited. And I turned to it numerous times in a very difficult time for me. I loved testing it just to see what it would come up with for the pictures I chose. I loved it so much. Sure, with the amount that I used it, I wished sometimes that it had more features to be able to customize the font and shape of the font, just because I didn’t want ALL my pictures having the same set of options. I used this A LOT. I recommended it to friends in photography networks. I LOVED it. And I disagree heartily with YouVersion stopping it to focus on other things. It is an awesome app and should be developed further. Their Bible app is great, as well, they do amazing work. But I hate to see the beauty of this app be lost. Yeah, sure, I can add verses to my photos in the Bible app. I can add verses to my photos using a ton of other apps. I can, I have, and I do. I can search for a particular verse that I want to add with search engines and add them to my photos with other apps and I used to do that. BUT, this app surpasses all of that. It was phenomenal to be able to have the app assess photos and offer verses to use, and it was incredible to be able to look up verses using the search option. It worked way better in those respects than anything else I have used. I am crushed that it will be gone.
YouVersion has done a great job with this app and made something that is both social and devotional in nature, but it has one huge flaw. I absolutely love this app, except for one thing: I can’t add verses of my own choosing to my pictures. I really enjoy the feature where the app suggests verses for your pictures. It’s both a cool way to share your pictures with others, but it also sometimes helps one see their everyday lives through the lens of the gospel. I just wish it allowed me to select my own scripture references, or even allow me to manually type them in through the edit feature. I want to be able to put my scripture memory verses on pictures I have taken, or to add verse that a particular place or event I photographed reminded me of. I would have given this app five stars, but I find I don’t hardly use the app because I can’t choose the verses I want. If it is updated in the future to add this feature or something similar I will be extremely thankful and find a great deal more use out of it. Edit: Thank you to the developers for listening to the feedback users gave them, and thank you for specifically answering my own concerns. With the new update you can finally choose your own verse that you prefer, which was my only critique. Now the app is wonderful, and I look forward to using it more.
I really like the different ways you can frame the picture up. The options are much better than what you can do in the Bible app. But I don’t like the fact that I can’t move the picture inside the frame to highlight a specific part. This is also true if you want to crop a photo. It automatically centers the photo inside your selection. So if you want to move the photo left or right or up or down or resize it in this, you are out of luck. I would also like the option of selecting my own verse. I know I can basically do that inside the Bible app but the picture options are better in this app as I already mentioned. These are only minor complaints because over all I really like the app and it’s really inspiring how it manages to find verses you either didn’t know or didn’t think about to pair with your photo. I admit I’ve only used it to search my existing photo library so I don’t know if the experience is any different with a live camera shot. I hope so since it seems to be geared towards that. Blessings to the developers and keep up the good work.
