Yomu EBook Reader

I have spent a lot of time testing out different ebook readers. Throughout this time, I have tried maybe over 30+ apps. After switching back-and-forth through these various apps, Yomu is the app that I kept returning to. This app has allowed me to use a lot of features that I love, not to mention it is still being updated. One thing I also like is that there is no subscription model for this app, instead there is a one time fee that is very inexpensive. The pro version of Yomu allows me to have as many books as I would like, not to mention separate them into personalized folders. I have an instance of Kavita running on one of my personal NAS. The OPDS support is amazing in Yomu as it only takes a few seconds for all of my books to be downloaded. I wasn’t the biggest on reading just because I don’t like the physical feel of paper anymore, however, Yomu has assisted me and reading more books than I thought possible at this phase in my life. If you don’t buy the pro version of the app, it still does not hinder your use of the app itself. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to increase their ability to read books on an iOS device. I would also strongly recommend the pro version since your books are saved to the cloud with seamless syncing. Not sure if pro is needed for that, however, it is certainly worth it as this will help the developers continue to improve upon this wonderful app. Just like Panels is the best comic reader I’ve ever used on an iOS device Yomu is hands-down the best book reader on an iOS device.

I had been reading on my phone/tablet for over a decade when I made the switch to e-Ink devices about 5 years back. Due to some recent changes with the products, I decided to sell all of my e-Ink readers and go back to reading on my personal devices but did *not* want to put my library into another proprietary app (looks at you, Apple Books). I tested every ebook reader available on the App Store and was truly shocked that there were not more options - I wasn’t looking for anything crazy, just a solid reader with OPDS server support. Out of all of them, Yomu handles that the best. Fast, solid syncing, still getting updates and super easy to import your files. Not sure why other apps struggle to render tables in epubs correctly but Yomu has handled everything I’ve thrown at it beautifully. Just enough customization for your books to look how you like it but not too many that it overwhelms the UI and makes it difficult to navigate. Didn’t intend to but Yomu ended up replacing my comic book app so now I get to keep all of my books together in the same app. Highly recommend, nothing in the App Store currently compares. I don’t write reviews very often but sometimes an app is so great, you want to make sure to give the dev their flowers (and hopefully help someone find a useful tool when looking for one).

Seriously so AMAZING! If you’ve been struggling to find an ebook reading app that has good feature and a good look, this app is IT! This my second review on this app, since the Liquid Glass update came out not too long ago and man, it really gives the Yomu app a clean, fresh look (it already looked good, but it feels like after this update, the app was given a lil extra polishing) I’m being 100% honest when I say i don’t have anything negative to say about this app! That’s just how good it is! Simple, but clean! That’s Yomu!!! The only thing that I have to offer are some suggestions for new features in the future!! I am hoping for a feature that lets you go line by line when reading, it’ll blur out the rest of the words on the page and when you finish reading a line, you can tap on the screen to go to the next line (so, similar to what Apple Books offers!) I have always had trouble with accidentally skipping lines and getting confused, used to read with a bookmark covering the next lines in school for this reason! Hoping something like that gets added in! It’d be a super helpful feature for many users I bet!
