Word Farm Adventure

This is a simple but compelling word game. The idea of merging a pretty standard word search style game with background tasks of cleaning up and customizing various locations adds a layer of satisfaction to the gameplay. It’s a great carrot on a stick to keep you motivated. It’s not especially complex or deep, but it is compelling. The microtransactions are absolutely everywhere, as you’d expect, but are largely unobtrusive. Don’t expect to customize with the best items without paying up or watching an ad. And be prepared to dodge upsells all over the place. It’s annoying, but tolerable. Nothing you haven’t seen before in a billion other free mobile games. The big exception, and where the game falls apart for me, is the piggy bank feature. When you find a word in the search that isn’t on the puzzle board, your reward is stored in a piggy bank. Opening the piggy bank gives you valuable currency and other goodies. Except that the piggy bank is a paid microtransaction. So your only reward for feeling like you outsmarted the game and came up with a cool extra word is the incentive to give the game more money to get anything for it. That’s a pretty fundamental sin in a word game that I simply can’t look past. It eroded my motivation to find every word I can, which is the whole point of a game like this. It’s very unfortunately greedy design that interrupts what should be the core loop of the game and mars an otherwise super chill and satisfying experience.

I’m an unscrambling fanatic. I have played to the end and have no more tasks. It’s addicting. There are a few things that irritate me hence why the only 4 stars. I am hoping the individual games can become capable of messaging each other. I also can not receive rematch requests either. Things that you buy take too many shovels to obtain and others too little. I see my mansion in the part I am at and get discouraged because I know that the Fair ground took FOREVER to build. Another question is will others get to see our work? What we have built? Am i missing something? Overall cute game. Some of the words are big and i have never heard of them. In the individual games I AM A BEAST! Js
