VJump - Video Editor, Effects

I’m looking at how does developer has created a way for people to make awesome videos if they do not have video editing skills. What a great service to provide. Ideally, of course. So I’ve had strong video editing skills for a while now, and I go into this really hopeful, and kind of ran into a brick wall. The app is trying so hard to walk me through certain steps that I do not have control over my creation process. Because I already have video editing apps that allow me to create anything that I can imagine by applying my own hard work to them, I found the tutorial step process, and the fact that you have to wait a long time to get results back from the server to be a hindrance to my workflow. I messed around with it for a while and didn’t actually get anywhere with a video made in any short amount of time, which I was hoping that this app could help me with. I understand that for somebody that doesn’t understand the basic principles of Photoshop and sound editing, and all of the vocabulary that goes around it, this might really work well to speed up their workflow and provide them with results they might not otherwise be able to achieve. For me, it just became a frustrating process of saying to myself “why won’t this software work efficiently?”. So I’ve given this a two out of five stars because of the frustration that I felt trying to create my vision. If I did not have the skills that I had, I probably would’ve rated at three or four stars because I can see it’s usefulness. For those of us that have a real interest and talent in the digital arts, I don’t see this as an app that I would recommend for professional level media production. Again, a great idea, but perhaps not executed in a manner that creates a smooth workflow to allow an open ended creative process. I will be checking back on this app, however, in the future, to see if this improves.
