The one review here is seriously unfair, I think. Although the instructions for set up aren’t as clear as they should be, If they are followed (with the exception of putting iPhone in Aircraft mode, this will Not Work! Just make sure your phone is fully charged before starting the process), setup and firmware update goes without a problem. The features in the app work as appropriate, and has a number of features that most third party traffic cams lack. Am fully satisfied to this point, and given the cost, this is a good thing.
Like others have mentioned in their reviews, I expect something significantly better from a brand like Audi. The software is pretty garbage. It's impossible to connect to the camera over WiFi because your phone will just switch back to the car's WiFi. The only way I've been able to get around this is to make my phone forget my car's WiFi network. But thankfully, the VLC Player can read the AVI files on the SD card so I can still get the front and rear videos (they're separate tracks in the same file)
Seriously difficult to make a WiFi connection to unit in app version 2.02. I haven't made one WiFi connection successfully with it after 100+ attempts. Even though I lost count at the total number of attempts (it's well more than 100 times) with app 2.02, it was still a hit or miss on earlier version too but you could get a WiFi connection made within 20-30 attempts on that earlier version. The app is so flawed, it's hard to believe that Audi would be associated with it. IMHO, the app makes the Audi UTR a horrible ownership experience. If you are reading this and haven't installed the hardware, I suggest you return it, get your refund and purchase a different dashcam system with functional app is my recommendation. It's been about 4 weeks living with this Audi dashcam. Hardware works (tested it after installation and audible sounds give me a sense it still functions and honestly, it's a nicely featured system) but the encounter with the app makes me want to get a refund. It's ironic there's a notice of firmware update that seemingly came with the app update to 2.02. Maybe the firmware update corrects the connection issue, maybe not. But the app cannot or will not make a WiFi connection to the dashcam so the firmware update is moot. Lastly to Audi...Testing the app thoroughly before releasing an update would easily identify (serious) issues with this app IMHO.
