I’m going to cut to the chase, it’s a very convenient app to use. But it seems the farther they go along the more things you need to purchase. You used to be able to pause, play, rewind, and fast forward. Now that is a payed feature. I have bought the premium 4 times but it goes off of your apple ID and not your google account. I’m refusing to make any more in-app purchases until there is a better way to link payments across devices. There should either be a family plan or a linking across emails. Because when you have a family, which ever device has premium is now rendered disabled for any other use. Chrome Casting while using this app can cause lag or packet loss( packet loss is not necessarily lag it’s when the wifi is smooth but for some reason all the data is not getting received. ) So it should be linked through email and have the option to have a family plan just like google home.
Seriously, imho this is the best piece of application programming you will ever invest in. Kudos to the developers who cranked out this little jewel. Now, to those of us who have experienced problems with drops and other annoying insects interrupting our viewing pleasure, my advice is check everything else first. I did just the opposite; first I ran out and bought chromecasts© for every tv in the house (3) and did a few simple things that were OK as long as I stayed on a site that was designed for casting from my iOS devices. Casting from other sites was impossible or expensive. Long story short, I found this app and still had a few glitches. Then I followed the advice of my isp tech and bought a better router. All the difference in the world! Example: last night we were watching an OTA newscast on local tv when we turned in for the evening. We turned everything off including my iPhone which had been casting another live news show from the internet and which I had forgotten completely. Next AM I take call on my iPhone and go back to bed. Later on I turn on the tv and connect to the chromecast© and there's the same channel I was streaming the night before! What does this say? Just another of the long list of strange and cool things I've noticed with this cool little app. As you can tell I'm a fan. I've been using the app for about a year. Make sure everything in your home network is solid before you blame the app. Buy it you won't regret it.
The picture and sound quality cast perfectly to my tv. However if anything should go wrong and interrupt the casting, such as the Internet shorts out, the tv shuts off or your phone dies, etc., and you wish to resume playback from where you left off, you need a quick intermission to use the bathroom or something and have to pause it, or you just missed something and want to replay it, there is no playbar feature available on the free version. You have to purchase it from them, as well as their website ad blocker, which is separate from the ad blocker for their own sponsor ads, available in five different levels of security, prices increasing with each level. So that's a drag, but not a deal breaker if you ask me. Because although pricey to eliminate, I really did not find the ads all that diruptive once the video started playing anyway, which was after only a very short navigation to the website from which I streamed it. It casts only the link to the video player itself, as opposed to mirroring every single page and popup that might be or become active on the app's browser during the casting. I found the absence of only one feature to be a potential nuisance, and that was the playbar, because I had to rewatch a whole 3/4 of my show after the sleep timer shut my tv off unexpectedly at around that point, and I'm too cheap to cough up the $2 or $3 it costs to buy the playbar venture. Overall though, great app for free casting!
