I’ve used Tribecar three times and the experience has been very disappointing. Twice, I collected cars that were left with almost no petrol by the previous driver. I had to detour to a petrol station before even starting my trip. Customer service said I would be reimbursed $25, but the “refund” is credited into their in-app eWallet — which cannot be withdrawn. What makes this worse is how their system works. When booking a car, if your eWallet balance is insufficient, you are forced to top up a minimum of $20, even if you only need a small amount (e.g. $5). This traps your money in their app. So the cycle becomes: Top up petrol using your own cash → get refunded into eWallet → forced to top up more money to use the app → repeat. I even booked again to try to use up the balance, but faced the same issue again — another car with almost empty petrol. This clearly isn’t a one-off problem. On a separate occasion, I was charged $900 for a very minor scratch. This happened after a poor handover situation — the previous driver didn’t return the car key, and I couldn’t reach customer service for over an hour. I was delayed, the next driver was already waiting, and under pressure I had a light knock against a pillar at very low speed while parking. The damage was minimal, yet the charge was extremely excessive. Overall, poor vehicle handover standards, misleading refund practices, and unreasonable charges. Definitely not a service I would recommend.
Been a user of the tribecar app since it was first introduce and so far my experience using it was alright but I feel it could be better if Tribecar implement some of these features that their rival had. 1) One thing that set Tribecar app apart from its rival is they don’t have the option to book a booking at the 15 min mark. (Example: I want to start my booking at 9.15am but I can only book at 9am so it’s a bit of a inconvenience same goes for 9.30am or 9.45am) I understand that user have the option to start their booking 15-30 mins early depending it the car it’s at it’s home lot but I feel it would be more convenient if we as user can book at the 15 min mark. 2) Replace the stock image of the vehicle on the list view with the exact vehicle rather than saying it’s this car or similar as some user prefer to see the car in the list view rather than map view as it’s more easier to see plus navigate thru the app on what vehicle it’s rather than figuring out what vehicle they are renting. 3) The last request I had for the app is in regards to point 2 which would be to include the car registration plate on it that way it’s easier for user to see the condition of the car reported by the user who has previously rented it and they can judge the condition based the condition it was in rather than finding out the car condition on the exact day itself. Overall I hope Tribecar can implement at least one of my request for the app and slowly more this can be a user friendly experience.
The cars or vans provided are clean and new. No issues with usage of cars. However, the app has lots of bugs and can be improved more. The corner tabs are often difficult to click, thus sometimes unlocking or locking of cars can be frustrating. Updates of cars available for booking can be made automatically once the date/time is updated, it’s inconvenient to keep pressing to update the available cars once I make changes to the date/time. Pictures of cars to be added should make it able to add from photo library, it waste time (which means money on the rental) when I can only add by taking pictures from the app. Reported damages on the car should be made available onto the app instead of paper. This can assist to minimise time looking for damages which have been reported. There’s already many competitors apps out there, and their app works much better than yours. You guys should do something to upgrade this app if you want stay competitive in this market. Your marketing department should also put effort into replying many of the complains in this review.
