Straightforward stroke scales make it easy to identify a severe stroke in the field.
Overall it’s a simple app for the new stroke scales for determining LVOs. The VAN scale wasn’t designed to determine if a patient has a small stroke. I wouldn’t say “a stroke unlikely” if the scale is negative. I would say “VAN is negative”. If the patient had drift but VAN negative this doesn’t mean “a stroke unlikely” just means the patient doesn’t have a LVO.
