I’m a longtime user of this game and came here hoping for the developer to explain something with the recent hints change (rather than just hating on it, though I’m admittedly struggling). Could the columns of hints signify word length and if so, can you add a column header? I really would appeal that you somehow incorporate word length or even an option to toggle to the old hint view if that isn’t possible. That is a must have for me. Also what do yellow vs white hints mean? I can’t find an explanation nor in the help menu which could be added please. For all the hint update haters, I will say that I appreciate the attempt to show more hints at once rather than just one word (and having to fail-attempt to get it to cycle to the next hint), but I definitely need word length back. Lastly, can you change the sort of the word list back to vertical? Not sure if you knew but some of us, due to poor vision, have to use zoom controller on our phones to see small print. When I do this I can only see one column and scrolling left to right is difficult both visually and mentally. You would make this more accessible reverting back to vertical column sorting. Look forward to a response and I do love this app. Strangely it’s my go-to for insomnia…about 15 minutes of this helps me go back to sleep. Thanks for listening.
Not sure where the game pulls its word bank from, but if it’s going to accept a word like “gonna” or “gotta”, and sometimes even foreign words, or words that have no definition at all (I’ve guessed at clues and gotten them “right”, but there’s no definition given within the game or in a dictionary), it should be able to accept actual and common words found in the dictionary. It’s also selective about plurals. It accepts some, but not all. And I’ve been playing this long enough to also notice that it may accept a word one day but reject the exact same word the next day. Overall a fun, clean, and simple yet addicting game, but accuracy, consistency, and attention to thorough detail are very much lacking. The audience for a word game such as this are expecting these attributes. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that some of us would be willing to contribute missing words and definitions if they wanted to open source it. Just a thought.
TL,DR: A must-have for anyone that likes word puzzles! I’ve been playing this obsessively. It is hands-down my favorite word game on the App Store. It’s simple but challenging. There are practically unlimited puzzles as well as daily puzzles. I haven’t tried it but there’s also a feature to play with others in your Wi-Fi network. The interface is very clean and intuitive. The word counter and hints are helpful when you’re stuck but they’re not so revealing that they give the answers away. The ads on the free version are not very frequent or intrusive; you even get a countdown heads-up when one is coming up soon. But I was more than happy to pay for the ad-free upgrade because I play it so much and because it’s a one-time purchase and not a subscription.
