Scottish Gaelic For Beginners

I can’t listen to that voice. Is it possible to change it to another.

Thu’ is not pronounced ‘Thursday.’ Yet in every section, the computer reads thu that way because it wasn’t coded for Gaelic phonetics. It’s using English letter–sound rules instead of the Gaelic alphabet. That’s incredibly poorly done. The app is only useful for reading and writing Gaelic—its pronunciation support is awful. I can’t believe this is what was recommended to reintroduce Scottish Gaelic to the masses. Or instead of A bheil Beurla aig duine sam bith an seo the app says does anyone here speak English is does onyone here spik English? Seriously? So it’s just a Scottish accent on English not true gàidhlig.

This is a wonderful app for learning the different names for things in Scottish Gaelic and how they're spelled, however, the voice which is used to speak the words is not very useful at all. It is a relatively low-quality English male voice, and doesn't pronounce the Scottish words correctly; making it impossible to learn the correct pronunciation for the words. To the developers, I would recommend asking a real person who speaks Scottish to speak these words, and use those in this app instead of a text-to-speech robot voice. But I do like this app and will continue to make reference to it whenever I'd like to know what a word is in Scottish Gaelic.
