I don’t typically like wasting my time by writing reviews, but I’m making an exception for this one :) the stories in the game make me smile and laugh at different points, and cry at other points. Some endings are happy, others are heartbreaking, but all are beautiful and well-written. If you persevere in playing the game for months, you can build up coins and pearls and energy hearts over time. Do the events, do the cooking classes when you can. Build up points, have in reading the stories and the diary entries and the letters. Visit allies daily because you can get a pearl from visiting allies pretty often, and pearls are used for most things in the game. If you use coins for the castle lottery, do the 10 draws at once, you usually have a chance to get pearls that way too. I highly recommend this game, but be warned that in the first few days and weeks, maybe even months, it can seem pointless to continue or boring if you hit a roadblock with pearls. Just keep trying because I’m telling you, these stories are SO worth it. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I have!! (In game purchases can help but are NOT necessary unless you get impatient with collecting pearls and coins!)
I have to say, I have not read anything like the content that Voltage puts out. I’m pretty good at getting through stories without having to make any micro transactions (I feel like my Love 365 subscription makes up for it though) but when the reading is this good, having to put it down after 5 story segments is almost painful. I just want to know what happens next! They’re really good at writing a romance that doesn’t feel too forced or rushed but still keeps you engaged. In a way, I almost feel guilty getting for free what is good enough to be paid for. That aside, let me speak specifically about Samurai Love Ballad which is fantastic. I’ve read through four routes and am halfway through my fifth right now. I could just be picking good characters, but every one of them has been great and the one I’m on right now is a character that I was worried I’d hate. Turns out, the only thing I hate is having to wait till the next day to continue reading it. The writing is just so good. It’s really on another level. If it were one of Voltage’s paid apps, I would probably have already bought every character route. But let me say this for those who are upset about buying pearls; if you want to read through a story without having to make purchases, just grind points at the beginning before you even start reading your chosen character. Just pick the one you want and then forget about him for a few days while you log in as often as possible to train skills. It’s a lot harder to wait when you’re already engrossed in the story and the trials come at pivotal moments that will make you feel especially impatient. There’s my little tip. Happy reading!
This game is fun, each story interesting and different, each samurai and/or ninja having a different personality appealing to masses but still each one have something gratifying and loving about them making every story worth playing even if you wouldnt match well, but there is one big problem if you dont have money im going to spare you some time and tell you to go ahead and take your eyes off this, its impossible to finish even one story without in-app purchases it feels, especially if you want portraits. Most in-app purchases also arent nearly worth it 1 pearl costs around 99¢ which would be more understandable to me if it was 3-5 but its a whole 99¢ for ONE which in game can get you about an onigri and a kick in the teeth. Also coins cant really get you anything maybe some accessories but thats about it and i have no closet space anyways bc it cost pearls to expand closet space so i basically have useless currency, it would be a whole lot nicer if pearls werent needed for EVERYTHING, you need them to buy outfits to progress the story, you need them them to expand your closet, you need them for when you run out of energy in cooking class, you get the drift. If half the things in this game that needed pearls could use coins it would be a lot more playable. It's a very fun game but if your not ready to get bleeded dry i woundnt waste the time, too bad im already emotional and financially invested in this game ://
