RCA Smart Remote

The app is a bit hard to understand at first but once you get it down it’s easy. Only problem I’m having is having to reconnect the remote time and time again. I suggest try and buy the real remote for your tv or just deal with the disconnecting and having to reconnect, but overall it’s not too bad I would just recommend try and buy the real controller for your tv.

This app is utter garbage, the remote is also complete garbage. You cannot connect the remote to an actual fire stick device without going through hours of troubleshooting and even then it does not have all functionality. The TV and fire stick kept rejecting to pair it saying it was not supported. The menu button does not have the same function for the fire stick device and remote when using this remote, so if you have to type in a password you are up the creek if you need to switch to the next set of numbers. Many more issues but I’m so frustrated with this thing I don’t even feel I wrote my thoughts out in a constructive way. Main point, save your money and time and just do not buy the remote.

If you’re considering getting this app you must have purchased an RCA product. Do yourself a favor and return it for a refund while you can. Tell everyone and their neighbor that the product is junk. The remotes associated with this app are junk and will randomly disconnect frequently. I am lucky if I can make it a week before having to reprogram the remote. Sometimes it fails multiple times a day. Today the app is just not working altogether, claiming there is a 502 server error on RCA’s side. There is no way to get any additional information, or figure out a workaround. As far as I’m concerned the outage is permanent—I’ll be uninstalling the app and tossing these remotes in the trash.
