Initially I chose another university but the process was very difficult and it discouraged me from attending. My sister who is a graduate of Rasmussen suggested I check out their programs and it’s been a smooth journey. Rasmussen University has made furthering my education very convenient from the application process until current. My educators have been supportive of me and they all seem to enjoy teaching. They are responsive should I have questions and are willing to see to it that I have a clear understanding of the information and assignments. Coming from a Junior College I wasn’t ready for the short weeks and workload but I immediately caught on and found my flow to complete assignments. It’s been great.
I have been a student with Rasmussen (Mokena, IL) for almost a year now. I must say that the learning experience that I have had thus far has been awesome. I was at a point where I thought I wanted to change my career path, so I spoke with my advisor (whom I definitely must say is the greatest) about my thoughts and he told me that whatever I wanted to do, he would make sure that I would receive everything I needed to make the transition. Needless to say, I switched my course of plans and gave it a try. This change not only put me in a new career course, but it also put me into another location still with Rasmussen but in a different state (online). Although the transition went smooth and I enjoyed the few courses that I had, I had a sense of doubt. Not doubting that I could not do the work, but if I had made the correct choice by switching paths. I called my advisor from the Mokena, IL campus, and poured a quart into a pint, so to speak, and told him what I wanted to do. Once again, with him being so terrific, he told me l, ”if this is what you want to do, I'll make it happen on my side, ” and he did. I am now proud to say I am a nursing student at Rasmussen Mokena, Illinois campus. Everyone that I have encountered at this campus has been polite, professional, patient, and kind. This is what makes learning not only comfortable but fun as well.
As the title says this is a great app for any Rasmussen student & is highly recommended that all students download! BUT it has its serious annoyances & problems. First, I receive notifications for replies to discussion posts that have nothing to do with me. As it can be helpful to know when my peers have submitted something I’d rather be notified when it is ONLY a reply to my own initial post or a reply to a post I have replied to. It is not the case here & is very annoying. Second, the app is very boring & all of the above notifications have longer confusing titles than message content. It feel too robotic & messy if you ask me with no way to refuse to see these type of notifications. Third & finally, I think implementing a reoccurring schedule due date would be helpful. More so than having to create a due date every single week for something like discussion & weekly assignments. We all know they are due the same days each week but with no option to set something to reoccur each week is another annoyance. For what it’s worth (free) the app is almost essential for any Rasmussen student but it’s features, notifications & scheduling are annoying, Incomplete, & sometimes more confusing than helpful. I’ll be honest it doesn’t feel like this was thought through or tested enough before officially releasing. Some serious updates are needed for better user experience & whoever developed this might want to find out what students want instead of assuming what they might want.
