This is a well thought out and helpful program. My coach Mariana has been enthusiastic and inspiring and brought our group together . To work in a group with people who all have the goal to lower their Hemaglobin A1C has been so very supportive. The coaching, working in a group, the weekly videos and the classes inspired me and strengthened my resolve to reach my goal. The Project Power app that I used on my cellphone helped me track my daily exercise and walking, log my food and calories, keep track of my weight , view videos and attend classes. The Withings scale that we were given is amazing. Not only does it track your weight, it tracks your heart rate , muscle mass and much more. By using the scale in the first three days I saw that my heart rate was too high and notified my doctor. For me this was a symptom of a thyroid disease which I had no idea I had , as I had no other symptoms and I did not feel my heart beating faster. The Withings watch is wonderful. You can not only keep time, you can keep track of your heart rate, exercise, keep track of your sleep and many other functions. The classes taught and run by Coach Marianna were especially helpful. The class on stress was outstanding. I would like to recommend that this class be the very first class in the Project Power Program. I recommend this class highly to anyone who wants to lower their Hemoglobin A1C . The American Diabetes Association is changing lives for the better with this very helpful program and it is free! Thank you! Joanna Williams-Cromer
This is an unqualified success as a diabetes program. The meal tracker lets you see immediately and in detail the fat/carb/calorie content of all the foods you eat. So you learn immediately where your dietary problems are. The scale is fabulous for letting you see first hand your success and keeps you on task. The Fitbit makes you see exactly how much exercise/activity you are getting or not getting . These incentives are so helpful to staying on track. I just saw my doctor and my blood tests showed real improvement. My doctor was pleased to hear about this program and that I signed on unprompted. Also and not least, the Counselor, videos and group online meetings are excellent at informing about all aspects of diabetes control and health issues which result if not controlled. In every way this is an outstanding program and a beneficial component to diabetes treatment. I will tell everyone I know with prediabetes/diabetes about Project Power. In fact that is how I learned of the program and the app, i.e., from a friend! Thank you!!!
Project Power Program has created a healthier lifestyle for me. The app has many healthy tools: a food log, health monitor, access to short informative videos, habit tracker and a discussion log. The food log was great because it allowed me not only to count my calories, but it increased my awareness of the foods that I was eating. The tool showed me that my meals contained too many fatty foods, so I selected healthier meal choices which resulted in a decrease in my fat intake. The videos focused on methods to manage and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Coach Susie was great. She never made anyone feel embarrassed or shameful. She always pointed out ways to assist one in making healthy choices. During a team meeting, I informed the group that I have trouble giving up butter. Coach Susie suggested I try Smart Balance which is a healthy option to butter. I tried it and I now use it instead of butter! I have lost 10 pounds and am continuing to lose weight. I weigh myself daily, walk daily and have joined a gym. Project Power is great and I have recommended to my family and friends.
