The scripts in this app or to generic to be helpful. For confidence, you get a repeated exhortation to see yourself as confident and then become who you see… So confident! For habits, you get told that habits are really important and exhorted to drop bad habits and start good habits, and imagine how great you feel when you have good habits! You cannot change your behavior by saying “OK, now I have good habits!” Behavior change comes from breaking things down into small, concrete bites that you can take action against. And for a lot of people who need confidence or better habits or similar, the problem is specifically that you don’t know what the content of that category really looks like because you haven’t lived it yet. One of the major advantages of guided visualization is that a person, a guide, can show you what you don’t know and then help you get there. This content from Primed Mind does not do that. Do not subscribe.
I have a subscription to this as well as another popular meditation app and use both every day. Been using this for about 2 months now and the other for about a year. They both have a little different focus. Primed Mind is great because it has a lot of interesting visualizations that help you get relaxed or motivated etc. I'm a visual person and often find myself doing visualization during "normal" meditation anyway, so I really enjoy the ones in this app. It also gets really motivating and intense during some of the motivation ones, which will energize you and get you ready to go for your goals. The one I have used the most is the quick "relax now", which really gets me relaxed in only 5 minutes. I do have one concern, which is that my favorite one, "relax now" that was the 7 minute long version, seems to have disappeared or I just can't find it. Any way to bring it back? I enjoyed the feeling of relaxing in that forest next to the lake :)
Mindset is a subject and a lifestyle I have been on a journey with since I was a teenager (early-mid 90s) and long before it was talked about more heavily in popular culture. Academia, sports, business...this is an area I have always focused on strongly. When I found this app, I was in the middle of my search for a psychologist/performance coach. This app filled the immediate gap I was seeking to fill. I have heard people comparing this to Calm, which has also been helpful as far as guided meditation. Primed Mind is very much different. The narrator begins by talking me down, emptying my mind, assisting me in becoming present. The pace is initially slow and therapeutic. The narrator transitions to filling my mind with the necessities for the specific primer. The pace of speech begins to increase, his word choice is deliberate, the tone becomes more and more intense. I notice my breathing intensifies. I sometimes smile as the words and thoughts resonate deeply. By the time the primer is finished and the narrator counts you up to open your eyes, if you don’t feel charged, energized, ready to punch life in the #%!#% face...or however you articulate this emotion, I don’t know what to tell you. After trying a few of the primers, I fully subscribed immediately with no regrets. My recommendation to mix it up even more would be to get additional celebrity “motivational” people to do primers. I’d like to hear Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Russell Simmons, Will Smith, or Eric Thomas (Video-“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe”). If Calm can get people to do sleep stories, Primed Mind can surely make this happen. Amazing and very well thought out app! Thank you!!!!!!!
