You need the Renfe app with the ticket loaded so you can copy the ticket number. Then connect to the WiFi in the train. It will ask to open this PlayRenfe app. After you accept the cookies you can paste the ticket number and check the obligatory box to accept the terms and conditions. NEXT train ride!!!!! Select the train WiFi and FORGET this network so you can start over again……

Unfortunately, this app is similar to some of my experiences buying tickets on the Renfe website, full of “error” notifications that get you nowhere. I took a number of train rides on Renfe trains on a recent trip. I had to jump through hoops just to get on the WIFI. I haven’t been able to watch or do anything on the app so I just deleted it. Every time I tried to open it I got an error message. Disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The app requires you to provide unnecessary personnel information in order to access WiFi. Asking for your ticket number makes sense but asking for email, phone number, name and PASSPORT NUMBER, should not be necessary for securing WiFi when you’ve already purchased a ticket. Worse than that to connect you must receive a SMS text, which I never received, although I tried multiple times. The app is so poorly designed that it does not provide any ability to fix a problem without starting over and providing all your information that they should never have AGAIN. Never did get the WiFi working.
