Useless at measuring and cutting mats. What should the interior dimensions be? Who knows.
Most images when matted are not equally distant on all 4 sides. This calculator only allows you to do an equally distant mat width on all 4 sides. Most images to be framed will have a “weighted” lower portion of the mat to be “heavier” a.k.a. wider. This app won’t let you do that. Too bad otherwise it works great.
The interface is clean, and very intuitive. I bought this only for the matting feature, so I have not assessed the framing elements. For basic matting it should do a great job. The biggest missing feature, for me, is the option to have different border widths on the top and bottom of the mat. There are options for a single width, and for symmetric horizontal and vertical widths, but nothing to allow weighting of the mat. A wish list item would be the option to import a jpg of the picture I wish to frame so that I can experiment with the mat border widths to get the best visual effect.
Automatically calculates frame molding and mat dimensions, including glass and backing board, ready for cutting and building a picture frame.
