Nomad eSIM deliberately uses language in their data plan to mislead its customers. The “add on” plan that they offer is no add on at all. Your existing data doesn’t carry over at all, it expires and the “add on” plan you purchase is no different than a new plan. The “details” page they show you never mentions that your data doesn’t carry over. They use the name “add on” tricking you to buy the plan early making you think that your it’ll add on to your existing plan. The part that states that your existing data doesn’t carry over is hidden in their help content. Why would a customer go digging for such information when the “details” don’t mention that and they call it “add on plan”? Most people won’t and this is how they fool you into thinking that you’re actually getting a fair deal. But that’s just their scammy tactics into getting you to pay for a plan early on and then find out that your existing data doesn’t carry over after the new plan have started already, therefore doesn’t qualify for a refund. Stay away from this type of anti consumer company. They should be sued for false advertising!
I’ve done four international trips in the last few years with Nomad’s eSIM, and highly recommend. It’s worked flawlessly within a moments of my landing in my destination. I’ve never worked with a company that had such a reliable service before. The instructions were set up are detailed and excellent. My data seems to last forever, even though I use my phone as a hotspot to support laptop work while we’re on the road. And it seems to be able to always connect, even when I’m in a fairly remote part of the world. I was just in Costa Rica down on the Oso Peninsula, which is quite a remote part of the country. I was amazed in the jungle to have excellent coverage. Very, very happy to finally get to writing this review. I’ve meant to do it for a long time.
But it never happened. I attempted to use the service in multiple different countries over a years period of time. I’ve purchased at least five Sims from them, and every one had issues. Tech-support was quick to answer and ask the same questions, and usually not very helpful. Last time I was told to ‘get closer to a tower’. When traveling I activate the SIM before landing in the country I was arriving in, and it would work for a day or two, then I would spend many days without service, no maps, no translator and no way to locate hotels. No tech support unless you can find a Starbucks or have time to sit around a place that has free wifi and wait for a response. Typical time to resolve issues, three days. Yeah the price is great, but the last semi purchased 10 gigs/15 days and was only able to use .8 gigs in that time before the Sim expired because the service would not connect. The company did nothing except offer me their apologies. Which I’m thankful for. Would have liked a refund. Looking for a different company. Hope your experience is better.
