I bought this app because I forget what movies I have if I can’t see them on a shelf. In the interest of space, I’ve had to ditch cases and store dvds and blu-rays in binders (I have roughly 15 full of discs). I also have a handful that are digital only. I like that I can store the location of the disc in the app so that when I’m scrolling and see something I like, I can find it right away. Functions that really enhance the convenience of the app: barcode scanner for adding new titles; filter by media type so I can limit my browsing to movies or tv series (though some entries seem to be missing this, which throws a wrench in my organization), and lots of information about each title in the app. I’ve used the app for several years now and it’s really enhanced my ability to access my collection. It is worth the purchase price, without a doubt.
My Movies still seems mostly focused on being an entertainment server for Windows users. To add a disc title to a tv series you have to download the Windows version and scan every disc in the title. It would seem simple enough to simply select a bunch of disc titles and add them to a tv series, but despite my having requested this feature they don't seem to think it's important. So iOS users must rely on other users to add data if they want to have a consistent look to their collection. In response to the developer, I understand your limitations. They are self-imposed, and don't change anything I stated in my review. iOS users pay for an app and have to hope that someone will add data for the particular UPC that they scanned into their collection. Knowing what episode is what title on the disc doesn't help iOS users, only people who use My Movies as an entertainment server and rip their discs to HDD.
I love this app and use it constantly. However, there is one MAJOR problem with it. Every Tuesday, I buy the latest 4K movies and barcode scan them into the app. However, about half the time it indicates that the title is not yet in their database and asks me if I would like to submit the title to them. So, I agree and enter the info and take front cover and back cover photos and click submit. Without exception, it comes back with an error message indicating someone else has already submitted that title. Why doesn't the app just check to see whether someone has already submitted the title between it saying it doesn't exist and before it asking me to submit it? It is disrespectful to keep wasting everyone's time. I'll wait a month and then think surely they have fixed this problem after years of doing this but sure enough, it just keeps doing the same thing every single time. I'd give it 5 stars if they corrected this frustrating issue.
Important! The application is not for downloading or watching content. My Movies allows you to catalog your entire collection of movie and TV Series...
