UPDATE 2: they finally rolled back the “back button” issue too! App is fixed! Hurrah! UPDATE: The “Welcome to the MSN” problem has been fixed! The app still doesn’t let you click “back” in the browser from links on the Bing rewards page, but I will still put my review up to a four, as the “Welcome” screen was the most egregious problem by far. If they correct the “back” button issue, I’ll go back to a five! (Original review follows) I loved the Bing app and used it everyday. Unfortunately when they “updated” it to this “MSN” app, they made it so, so much worse. Anytime you click on an article, when you click “back” it brings you to the “WELCOME TO THE MSN” screen that you have to click “continue” to get back to the homepage. It also GOT RID OF the “Back” button for any links you click in the “Bing rewards” section. There’s just an X to click instead, which—surprise, surprise, also brings you right back to that infuriating “WELCOME TO THE MSN” page. It’s basically impossible to navigate the app now without clicking that “continue” button every minute or so. Very disappointing. I’ll update this review if and when they fix it.
Ugh where to begin. I’ll just stick with the first screen to you once starting the app. The continue screen. Every time I start the app that MSM screen is always present, I click continue get to the main page. Then I click on an article read it click the back button and what to I get? The MSN screen again. I get this screen over and over again. I look at my profile I click the back button and get that nag screen again, because that’s what it is now. A nag screen. Even though I’m using a paid Microsoft account and clicked continue. When it was Start it was great it was my go to app for internet and AI. Now it’s more of a pain than anything else. I haven’t even started on the blank page you get when you click a reference from returned from CoPilot then click the back button and you just get a black screen. Did you guys do any bug testing??
This app needs to label stories that are opinions and NOT news. the headlines on many stories are unclear or suspiciously misleading to appease to the appeal of the political party of the target audience. please do better. Particularly when it comes to favoring Conservative viewpoints. It will suggest stories to me, and be completely biased against Democrats, and not a single story even has that is an opinion/editorial, instead saying something like “according to legal analysis”. This is just one example and I also believe they are using my location to suggest that I am one political party that I’m not bc it’s advertising driven. I love the app bc I can get access to stories not on Apple News for free, but I don’t want fed misinformation and this is DANGEROUS DURING THIS ELECTION CYCLE. Please take this seriously bc I read the comments from people on the app commenting on the “news” stories and they are misinformed and speak in a violent manner. They believe these opinion pieces are news and dont understand bc the app doesn’t let people know that it’s an opinion piece and most people don’t even understand what an opinion piece is. They just assume since it’s from a news app, its news. It’s dangerous. Please stick to your policy about unbiased news reporting and balanced editorials. Please. I would stop using location to assume that I want to be fed news from certain sources just based on my current location when it comes to national politics. That’s dangerous bc just bc my location moves around doesn’t mean I change my core beliefs and political views. We all just want the news and the truth.
