i really enjoy this app! the interface is very clean & engaging + little mochi as a mascot is quite cute :3 i am learning and retaining kana faster than i thought i would! the visual/english word mnemonics are very helpful!! my only concerns are that i cannot enable notifications even when following the app prompt to do so :( there is no notification toggle in the app settings menu & the app is not present in the separate notification settings menu, which is unfortunate as i would really like to utilize notifs for the golden time reviews & to keep my streak! also, the writing exercise “continue” button is unfortunately not functional and the app must be quit to continue with the 2-star & 3-star practices. that being said, i truly do enjoy using the app and i am confident that it will help me in becoming conversationally proficient and able to read/write in japanese! :]
Much like Duolingo, but very organized and doesn’t just throw random random lessons so you don’t feel lost, I’d give it 5 stars but the only thing preventing me is that the app can be a little glitchy and freezes but other than that, it’s very good, especially for the value of a year subscription. Update 03/20: Lowered the rating to 3 stars, learning aspect is great but it’s very glitchy. Even though I’ve been active daily the streak isn’t recognizing my activity so it hasn’t increased and when completing the “writing” feature when you press continue, nothing happens. You’re forced to close the app and so you can proceed, and this has to be done every time you complete a writing exercise.
I downloaded this as a tool to help me with learning the language and it was working well in the beginning. I liked it so much I bought the yearly subscription. Then out of the blue it logs me out. I try to log in but it doesn’t go through. I click forget password and change it. Try to log in with the new password, apparently it’s the wrong password?? I try to make a new account using my email apparently it exists already?? I wanted to give this a high rating but it’s bugs like this that made me go sour on this. What a waste of $30. Edit: I will change the rating depending on if this bug happens again. I contacted them and they did respond fast and resolve this issue.
