For the past 220 days, I have seamlessly integrated Mental into my morning routine without fail. Every day, I let my dogs outside, come back in, and spend about five minutes reflecting on the insights I’ve gained from the app. On day 217, I experienced a setback when my progress reset to zero even though I listened to it like always. Initially, I was disappointed and considered giving up. However, I’m proud to say that I’ve now maintained my commitment for 220 consecutive days. Despite that reset, I refuse to let a number deter me from using such a valuable tool. Throughout these 220 days, I’ve encountered some of the same daily deuces multiple times—some even three or four times. While this might seem frustrating, I believe the repetition is beneficial. The time invested in listening has significantly impacted my mental well-being. As a man navigating today’s challenges, I find it incredibly rewarding. As an elder millennial, I was raised to bottle up my feelings and trust very few, yet society portrays a certain image of masculinity that often equates vulnerability with weakness. Mental has provided me with a space to shift my mindset and cope with some of the toughest moments I’ve faced. In conclusion, despite the app's flaws—like hearing the same deuces repeatedly or the inability to restart your protocols, and the wipe away of my streak. I wholeheartedly give it five stars. I believe every man, boy, and elder should incorporate this into their daily routine. Thank you for your dedication, and please continue to support men across this platform.
Im updating my review. Initially I was having issues with the app not recording my activities. That was very frustrating and ate up most of my trial period. The team behind the app was responsive and fixed the issue in about a week. In hindsight, part of the point of this program is to help you build resiliency and change your perspective so I can now see it as a real-life test. Initially I thought the feel of the different activities and some of the names were a bit campy but they’ve won me over. The daily lessons are sometimes very insightful, and if you complete the daily Do the feedback and suggestions from the AI engine are generally pretty good. I’ve used the chat feature and I can see it as a good tool to quickly reframe thoughts or your state of mind. The Cold Shower Protocol is so far my favorite part. Except today when I hit the 30-second mark. The lessons are quick and practical, and I get the incredible sense of energy and accomplishment when I finish. This has become my favorite part of my morning. Having something to look forward to when I get out of bed and starting the day off feeling accomplished has been a game changer for me.
I was scrolling on tiktok after the passing of a very close relative and was uplifted by one of their posts. Without even knowing an app existed, and without expecting a response, I shot them a message and thanked them for making me smile after such a hard loss. Within an hour or two they responded with a heartfelt personal paragraph, and offered me a free a year on their subscription. The mental team have been the nicest people I have ever interacted with on the internet, and their positive outlook on life has caused me to view things in a different way. The approach to men’s mental health without traditional therapy is something i’ve looked for as somebody who struggles with it, and mental seems to be the perfect solutions. Without pushing you out of your comfort zone, Mental allows you to improve your life and stability of your mind through small details and actions that will make you feel like your old self. It doesn’t take a lot of time, and I look forward to using mental everyday and working towards a more fulfilling and enjoyable life.
