Melodics: Drum Lessons App

Making some progress in fixing what many of us saw as issues in the latest overhaul of the app. Long time subscriber that is considering giving it another chance. update(aug. 3) - the playing window, which comtained most of my main gripes with the recent major new version, seem to have all been addressed. i will go back to my annual subscription, thanks for listening to user feedback.

It makes not sense that the Explore section always puts you back Grade 1 every time you open the app. Also, we need some feedback about whether the midi device is connected. It’s frustrating that the only way to tell is deep in a menu or just to start playing and find out nothing works.

Excellent system for learning more precise drumming! But it’s missing one key feature. Well maybe more than one. It should have a setting to make the note precision more demanding because it’ll give you a green even with strikes that would sound sloppy. Auto bpm should let you go above the lesson’s BPM. A tagging feature would let you group and return to skills that you care about. Songs should be easier to heart. As an educational tool it sure would be nice for it to have some path to learning regular drum notation. And how can you drum without caring about dynamics (see the Purdue shuffle lesson ouch)? All this said, Melodics has a brilliant method of letting you play along and instantly reflecting your precision. The one BIG thing it’s missing: letting you enter and save your own one- to four-bar phrases (like some of the lowly metronome apps out there) and then use the feedback and tracking capability. This would be invaluable for mastering exercises found outside the app, and for the songs in your band’s set list. Pleasepleasepleasebabyplease add this feature.
