The rebates are all for organic stuff, and for low amounts like 20 cents. You have to submit your receipt by Sunday at 9 pm PST otherwise the rebates will be gone. Sometimes when I try to submit my receipt, the app crashes. Then when I go back into the app, the rebates I was trying to claim are no longer there. Then I have to e-mail customer support, and they don’t get my e-mail until the following day, so they make the claim that the reason the rebates disappeared is because I submitted it after Sunday at 9pm PST, which is a LIE, which the timestamp of my e-mail proves. I show them my receipt through e-mail, but they still don’t give me credit for the items I bought. Unlike Ibotta, Makeena only allows you to cash out when you’ve reached $20. You can imagine how hard it is to get to $20 when each rebate is only 20 cents. In addition, you can’t cash out to your bank account, it has to be to either Paypal or Venmo.
They don’t give you a lot of information. They say $4 off ANY turkey with no elaboration. You buy turkey, submit receipt. Rejected. Ummm? It says turkey right there. I’ve had MULTIPLE rebates for “ANY” of X brand. Then bam rejected. It says ANY. The word any means just that..ANY! If it needs to be a specific item or product line then just SAY THAT. There was one for ANY Alter Eco chocolates. Bought some. Rejected. I don’t usually bother arguing because I honestly get tired of having to fight with companies over a few cents here and there. I’ll use the app sometimes but I don’t count on it for anything. Ibotta is vastly better overall. You can scan and doublecheck for a match before you buy. They are also very clear about what you need to buy for the rebate. None of this buy “any (insert brand name) item” bait followed by a rejection. Makeena does have excellent customer service but as I said I value my time and get weary of having to argue every third receipt. I’ve even had them reject the basic 150 point any receipt before. I mean good grief guys! ANY RECEIPT?! That was awhile back. Laughable. I didn’t bother arguing that one.
I have been treated very kindly by their customer service when I recognized one of my receipts wasn‘t fully applied. They ran through the situation more than efficiently. And I particularly enjoy the actual money back for buying things that are healthy for the human body. I‘ve found other apps like iBotta just do not give enough nor even have these options to be cash backed whatsoever, almost all the time. So Makeena is what I use and is a finding of precious gems in the mines of the cashback and living healthy lifestyle! They really do help offset the cost! Thanks!
