Update-I talked with Lowrance technical support. They were not overly helpful, but I did think about some sign in issues I have had. I have a Lowrance account set up under one of my email addresses and I also have signed into the app using Apple‘s sign in. when I deleted the app and signed in letting Apple sign me in I was able to use the app again. Possible other people’s issues might be related to sign in or account issues.. we will see if this continues to work. I use Lowrance graphs so I was very happy to see that they make a high-quality mobile app that can communicate with my finders. When it works it works great. But the last couple months there have been lots of glitches, the app closing right after opening or the app opening but not loading the map. I uninstalled and reinstalled and lost all my way points.. in this new market of continuous payment subscriptions I appreciate that Lowrance is still fairly reasonable on price, but you need to work on stability.
If I had known how buggy and challenging Lowrance software was, I never would’ve invested in this company. I was notified of a data breach, and that our account info was compromised (not credit cards). I reset my password, and when I opened my app, all my saved data was gone, no vessel information, no saved maps, no routes or way points, etc. The app doesn’t even recognize that I have a premium membership it’s still want me to pay again? I attempted to contact their customer support through the app, tried four times in four different ticket areas, all came back with an error, unable to send message. if you go to their website, there is no way to submit a help ticket to report a problem with the app for Lowrance account. I called the customer service number and my place in the queue was # 26. Last time I called, I was number four, and I was on hold for over an hour. Lowrance, if you cannot support your customers then your products are trash. The app is supposed to be helpful, instead it’s a bug-filled nightmare. Multi-million dollar companies should not have terrible apps or make it impossible to get help. So frustrated and disappointed. Maybe I’ll try and sell my equipment? Lowrance SHOULD be the gold standard in this industry, instead it’s more like a lead weight 40 fathoms down.
This app is very useful for your Lowrance products. I like how you can connect to each device for updates. I haven’t personally updated any yet but I will try a unit for the new 20.1 update. The app is very similar to the navionics boating app with charts, weather, navigation. But there a few things I think that should be added to make it on par or better than that app. The beta HRB contours are nice in the areas that have it. I know this is still in progress and I wonder if the contours can be pulled by C map genesis social maps to fill in the areas that aren’t mapped. I compared the mapping to a genesis social map I have and it was pretty spot on so maybe they are. I also don’t understand some of the depth numbers in the places that are mapped. The depth seems to be off, at first I thought it was in meters which would make sense but I have my measurements set to feet in the app so maybe it’s a bug? These are in areas that I know are much deeper that what shows. I think also adding a feature to enable showing more depth numbers would be helpful as well. A custom shading feature like on the c maps charts would be useful as well. The icons on the map like structure or obstructions don’t have any info on it. Maybe I am doing something wrong here but I am selecting the icon and I hit more next to the coordinates and it just shows weather info. I think a tide chart would be a good feature to have in the weather menu. I like the current weather info layout which makes it neat, but I think there should be an option to show hourly weather changes as well. Maybe touching the 4 hour time breaks it out into individual hours to show more detail. I am not bashing the app, just stating what I think should be added based on my opinion. Overall, I think it’s a great app and has potential to replace the other apps I use. I’ll be looking forward to the updates. And I might consider the premium subscription if new features can be added.
