The Lignes d’Azur system is fantastic. The buses, trams, and trains are integrated, making travel in Nice and in the region quite easy. The cars and coaches are all clean and comfortable (but can be crowded at times because the system is used by everyone). For anyone staying in Nice for a week or more, I highly recommend the 7-day pass. You can get them at machines at the tram stops and perhaps at other places. We have been to many of the nearby towns - Cannes, Antibes, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Monaco, and St. Jean Cap Ferrat by the Lignes. Once you have your card, it’s a simple swipe of the card on the reader and off you go. Seamless, easy travel.
I’ve found for Tram/Bus/Walk travel combinations, Google Maps provides better routing when focused on destinations involving walk/tram/walk options. In settings, turning off Bus settings does not show tram routes that are options for destinations.
I wasted a lot of time with this app, trying to take the newly opened tramline B towards the airport. The line is still under construction above ground, but functioning all the way from the Médecin station (I learned after the fact). Instead I walked several km along the route trying to reach an outdated terminus point. Along the way the app repeatedly was unable to suggest a bus or other transport that might help me use public transport to reach my destination. I cannot find an alternative app in Nice, and the apple and google map programs don’t display any transit information either. Make it more difficult to get around Nice than other major cities.
