As a Post Apo Tycoon fan, I always wanted a medieval version of that casual builder, and the devs delivered! It’s a fun, idle game that you can play at your own chill pace as you explore and build your own kingdom. The graphics are great for a casual tycoon game. And you definitely don’t need to pay to progress, though I like to chip in now and then so the devs won’t starve and stop building out the game! The main reason I can’t give it 5 stars right now is that it’s a bit buggy. It takes several attempts to load every time, even with a strong WiFi signal that allows me to connect to Post Apo or other games without any problems. This is a big deterrence for a casual game that encourages frequent checking in throughout the day. The app also crashes frequently, making you have to try several times to get back in. Other than that, it’s a battery drainer as well. If these issues are fixed, it would be a 5 star game.
I was already a fan of Post Apocalyptic Tycoon, so I was excited to see the same gameplay loop ported into a fantasy setting. It strikes a nice balance of keeping the formula similar while also setting this new game apart. Unfortunately, a lot of the bugs from the first game have came along with it. I’ve gotten stuck on black screens (using the base relocate button doesn’t work), and this game is a huge strain on battery life. And for including a feature to click the towns for gold, it’s really annoying that a menu will popup that takes up nearly half the screen. I have to position exactly before tapping, or else the Shop button is ‘conveniently’ in the way of the town I just tapped on. It also seems random which buildings that have a range will show that via a colored outline, and which you just have to count the tiles for on your own. I still think the core loop is incredibly fun and I’ve not really found another game like it, so that’s why I stick it out. But the polish leaves a lot to be desired.
Great game! Love how all of the ads are optional. Exploring the world and learning the story is a lot of fun. I really enjoy all of the resource management and city building aspects. For example, deciding on which special buildings go in each settlement. Great support staff, been playing for a few weeks now and I can see myself playing for several more months easily. Very F2P friendly! Even though it has a lot of similarities with Post Apo Tycoon (another game by same studio), this one has enough differences to make it its own game worthy of playing.
