LCI OneControl

We’ve had our trailer for just under a year. This is the most inconsistent app I have ever encountered. I work in technology and the fact that such a well known company in the Rv/travel trailer component industry has produced such a poorly performing application is appalling. Dealers of all types and brands are selling these amazing technologies in the Rv like backing cameras and tire sensors but the application to monitor and control them never work. We have attempted to troubleshoot, our dealership has attempted to troubleshoot. We’ve tried different phones, updating the app, disconnecting and reinstalling time and time again. Lippert should be ashamed of themselves. Stop trying to sell all these technologies when they don’t work. My guess would be they’ve never actually done any ux/ui testing out in the world where Rv/travel trailers are. They need to hire someone that knows what they are doing to redesign/develop this application and the components that are meant to be connected to it. They need to get feedback from the users on how it actually works in real life scenarios, not just what the app looks like. I can’t believe there isn’t a class action lawsuit against Lippert for selling a product that doesn’t do what it’s advertised to do. Ultimately, what’s going to happen is someone is going to be hurt by relying on the app that isn’t functioning properly.

I have had the phone app feature since I purchased a fifth wheel in 2015. App worked most of the time. Then I purchased a 2021 fifth wheel and again it had this same feature. Had all the same components as my 2015. So after first year with my 2021, and app working as it should, they changed the app. Went from a blue back ground that looked and functioned nice to a black and white. Looks like an app that was developed in the late 90s. With this new app came constant problems. One slide will connect and work and the other will not. I have to either use the manual switch or the LCI control panel. Same with my awnings, one works in the app and the other does sometimes. Then when you scroll down it shacks and jerks. This is a terrible app and I am like most other individuals who have commented, we pay a lot of money to have these features and expect them to work. If there was another company that could be used I certainly would try them over this crap app. I wish I could figure out how to get the old version back. At least it worked 90% of the time. And I can promise that if the app causes a failure in my rig or damages anything, I will certainly have a law suit. LcI, make it better not worse. Not sure who is in charge that allows this to continue at LCI but they sure are getting paid for designing bad worthless app.

We purchased a new Cherokee Alpha Wolf in July 2021 that had the OneControl system installed. I was excited to have the feature after learning about it. UNTIL I began reading reviews. It seemed nearly everyone was experiencing issues or even complete failures with the app and that nothing was being done to remedy it. Our experience couldn’t be further from that. It works great and the new update made it even easier! Want the lights on…hit the icon in the app…Abracadabra!! Lights are on! This puppy works better than the clapper! Sun beating down on you while you enjoy a frosty one outside? Pull up the ol app, hit the awning icon and….what do you know?! The awning jumps to like a loyal magic carpet, deploying out and your poor sweating beer is saved and you never even left your seat! Wife saying you parked too close to that tree and the slideout isn’t going to clear? Well with the app you can walk outside, away from her pestering, and simply push the icon for the slide… like something out of an Indiana Jones movie, the slide awakens from its resting place in the camper and rumbles towards you, while you safely keep an eye on it!(and on the off chance the wife was right you can stop the slide before catastrophe strikes). I love this app! Only issue and reason it’s not receiving 5stars is our factory installed rear view camera has a lovely pink hew to everything like something out of a Kubrick film and disconnects from the phone occasionally. Lippert is aware of this issue and is working to resolve the problem. Since we’re still under warranty I’m not to concerned and will have it fixed in the off season. The camera being the exception, every feature included in our camper that works through the app works great and is a huge convienence. Our OneControl does not monitor tank levels or HVAC but we will be looking into adding those considering how much we like the other features.
