I downloaded this app because my boyfriend at the time kept claiming every couples therapist he could find in our area had no availability. So I searched for other options and found this app. I’m not saying it’s a good replacement for couples counseling, but it was great for our unstable relationship. Every time I brought up problems before the app he would find a way to turn it into me “fighting” even if I was just trying to ask basic questions. So having the app ask them was better for me. He still blew up when I brought up a girl he likely cheated on me with and an ex he kept talking to despite knowing it weirded me out since he was living with her when we met. When I saw that even when we were in a controlled environment where we were both supposed to bring up our concerns it made his emotional abuse so loud and clear. So it didn’t keep us together lol, but it helped me realize his actions had nothing to do with me and he simply wanted to avoid the big red flags in our 3 year relationship to continue doing whatever he was doing without any accountability. I also want to point out that the app is great at helping you understand each other’s perspectives etc. It encourages you to learn more about them in ways you don’t think to once you’re in a committed relationship. Had we not had so many problems I think this would have been really great at strengthening a relationship. Definitely gave me some good ideas on what to ask early on with a new partner.
We have been struggling a lot, and have been considering marriage counseling but we don’t like having a third party put their two sense in our relationship because they don’t know us like we know each other. This app is amazing! It has exercises that helps us get to know each other on a deeper level. It helps us figure out things together. We work on our own with our answers and at the end it shares my partners answers with me so I can see what exactly she is feeling in comparison to mine. We are only on the third exercise and we have already learned so much. This is truly saving our marriage!! So much better than any marriage counseling could be, because we get to learn and grow together without that third party. Plus we can work on it anywhere, we don’t have to go to appointments or take a big chunk of time out of our day. We can work on the exercises together in the morning and at night and really get a grasp on how to be better to each other. I love this app! I totally recommend it! And it’s $12 for both you and your partner, not per person. Way better than paying an arm and a leg for all of these other counseling apps where all you do is text a counselor. This is actually teaching us how to grow our marriage in a healthy way! I 100% recommend this app! And there’s a week free trial so you can check it out before committing to the monthly $12 membership fee. My advice, if you are struggling in your relationship get this app: it will really bring you and your partner together. We feel so much closer to each other and are learning so much about each other that we never knew before this app.
I really love this app. Marriage counseling is expensive, and I’ve learned more about myself and my relationship via Lasting for a fraction of the cost. The app breaks down decades of research for you, and then asks really interesting reflection questions - and it’s SO fascinating to overlap your answers on top of your partner’s answers. So often, you have no clue that your partner thinks a certain way. I mean, you think you do, but you really don’t! Lasting opens up the door to thoughtful communication in ways we didn’t know were possible. I’d say that our favorite series so far are Emotional Connection and Conflict. Emotional Connection has really opened up our responsiveness toward one another, and Conflict has been a total eye-opener. I love the Soft Startup principle, and the elephants are so cute. I also like Communication and Forgiveness series. All in all, this app is totally worth the monthly cost. It brings you and your partner together, and it’s really cool to see an open focused on that in today’s day and age. I recommend this to every couple out there!
