George Washington Mount Vernon

If you have a mobile device - be sure to download this app. Though it takes a bit of time to open (the update can take a few minutes) it is completely worth the wait. Hours, tours, events, etc are up to date, maps are accurate, and there is even information on all the flowers in the garden.

I found the Mount Vernon App to be very useful. When you turn it on, it immediately updates to reflect the day's events and then you can plan your visit: get directions, hours of operation, what to see, where to eat, park and purchase tickets - all spelled out in one place! Then you can explore George Washington's house. Each room is highlighted and explained, take one of 5 audio tours, find and identify plants in bloom that day and much, much more! A great tool to get the most of your visit to the first president's home.

I love using this new app at Mount Vernon. The simple keypad interface allowed me to bring up information on everything ranging from buildings on the estate to interesting objects in the museum. The app also has a bunch of different audio tours that you can download and follow while visiting. I also found the George Washington quiz and the Colonial Selfie to be fun and entertaining. A must have for any visit or even for any George Washington fan.
