AirTurn Manager

I had some issues with my BT-200 being too sensitive and advancing multiple pages. This caused issues when I was accompanying a play last weekend. I discovered this app, and I found out that auto-repeat was on (poor choice for a factory default BTW) and that the debounce time was fairly low. I was able to easily turn off auto repeat and max out the debounce time to 500 ms. I think this will solve my problems with the device. I’ve had my BT-200 for over two years and I just now decided to RTFM and that’s how I found out about this app. I think they should tell you about it very clearly in the Quick Start guide.

I’ve been using the BT-106 AirTurn Duo with a 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9” every day since November 2015 - over 3.5 years and counting. It has never let me down in hundreds of rehearsals, shows, concerts, festivals, church services, and personal practice sessions. It’s a perfect rig for what I do, which is a lot of accompanying, shows, concerts at the piano, keyboard, etc. At first, I carried a paper music back up folder to gigs, but soon realized I didn’t need to do that. The battery life is great. I’m more worried about the iPad failing than the AirTurn. The iPad/AirTurn rig has changed my life profoundly for the better. I wish it had existed many years ago when I was starting out in the business. Once paired with your iPad, it stays paired. I’ve had to pair it maybe 3 times total and put it back in the correct mode once - probably due to my own error. Minor criticisms: unintuitive programming using little buttons and not much feedback from the device. Hard to see on a dark stage under the piano. Can slide away from you unless you use a little gaff tape to stick it down. There was a learning curve retraining myself to turn pages with my left toe instead of my right hand after so many years. LOL. There is also the phenomenon where you are reading a paper score and tap the AirTurn expecting it to turn the page for you! Hahaha. I’ve talked to others about this and It really happens!

The Manos is by far my favorite iPad holder, it’s strong and versatile. I’ve found the plastic part at the bottom that connects to either the mic stand or extension arm tends to strip easily, but the folks at AirTurn are very nice and quick send a replacement. I’ve been using the BT-105 for four years now and can’t imagine scrolling through lyrics without it. I just got the new PEDpro and already like the updates, dedicated power button (no more holding the tiny button and counting to five), battery indicator on top, iOS keyboard access has its own clearly marked button, intuitive mode scroll, an app for updating the pedal, and best of all no more wires, except for charging. Love it!
