I have recently discovered my love for poetry, and I would love to put my works here. There’s such a HUGE selection, and I love it. Another interesting thing could be a featured poet? Not everyday, but maybe once a week. I really think that the feature to submit/comment on poems would be cool. In praise though, amazing. Maybe more features, but seemingly endless content. The search engine could be better, searching based on theme instead of title. (If I type something like “cat” (idk??!) only poems with cat in the title would appear, rather than poems about cats.) Seriously you guys, it sounds like I’m downing y’all, but I’m not!! I love this app!!
They do a good job getting a wide variety of poems and the ability to favorite poems/poets to easily get back to them is great. However, I think adding filters would go a long way. For example, there’s a page that will randomly give you a poem from a massive selection, but often these poems are not in English. I would love the ability to sort those out. It would also be great to have filters for specific poets and the year it was written. I find that most of my favorite poems come from mostly classical poets and would appreciate the ability to limit the system to randomly get poems by by favorite poets or within a specific time period. Another problem occurs when searching for authors. I’ll open up the page for, say, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and it will give me an alphabetically-arranged list of his poems. This would be great if it didn’t stop at D with no way to load more! It seems to only load a specific amount of poems per poet, so only those that wrote very little actually get all of their works put onto their page. This makes discovering their poetry significantly harder and more frustrating! As I said, though, it is still far better than any other poetry apps out there, but they’ve still got a ways to go before they meet the quality level that other apps are at. I hope they keep working on it rather than banking on the fact that no one is competing with them! Poetry is an unfortunately niche market and ever declining, so the amount of apps tailored to it are few and far between, which means there is not much of a competition going on for the “best in class” and thus nothing to drive innovation or creativity. Here’s hoping that they’ll work to improve the app out of a love for the subject at hand!
Thank You, this app has the ability to guide a person when in doubt, the wisdom of kind words but true words for whatever path you may encounter. The assurance of why you’ll be ok, and the encouragement of standing up again. I’m amazed by how words can and do affect your every way of living, aa thoughts, sad thoughts, love and being denied thoughts. The feeling is indescribable in every scripture that has been written and that there is Alwaise someone that is in the same path you are going through and to help guide you through it all till the end. I Love every bit of helpful and powerful words. Pls and Thank You. 💜
