It's clear that the developers of this app no longer care about their users. I will explain why. First, I understand that every developer needs to support themselves. Yes, i get it, you need your money! The problem is that these developers decided to monetize their app *overnight*. They did it instantly, without notification. They just pushed an update to everybody one day which permanently locked features that everybody used to have access to. locked them behind an expensive paywall. The developers knew they messed up because they quickly went back and lowered the price of the annual subscription. But here's the thing: they NEVER told users in advance about their plan to monetize. they did not grandfather in any existing users, they did not offer existing users a discount, and they never once communicated to users what their plans were. They pushed all these changes on the user and basically told us to just deal with it. users had no warning of what was going on, and no communication from the developer. Furthermore, the developer reconfigured the app so that it literally refuses to launch unless you are connected to Internet. I assume they do this so the app can display ads. Look, each person can develop their app however they choose, but it's been a while since I have seen something so actively hostile. This is if the main focus of the product was lost, and now they're focus on extracting money from their users.
I downloaded this app and it was very hard to enter a little information about myself so I could have access. The hesitation being entirely my inability to commit to my own sobriety. Once I did take that baby step I have so enjoyed having encouragement and real time support anonymously and available at any moment of the day or night. Maybe itโs just me but admitting you canโt control a substance is as they say the first and hardest step being immediately encouraged to continue in a non-invasive way has helped me to challenge myself and set my own goals no shame involved. I think this app is brilliant and I think it can lead people to a more committed life in their sobriety. It also helps us understand what all is involved without feeling stupid to ask questions.
I managed to go from drinking normally to drinking daily during the COVID lockdown, and I was looking for something to help me get back on track with my health. I was also emotionally low, and feeling pretty negative about everything: humanity, work, any type of plans for the future. I needed a reset, and this app has been so helpful with that. I like that I can see how many days I havenโt drank, and how much money Iโve saved by not drinking. I wasnโt sure Iโd need the daily message, but it has really helped me change my perspective on the things I have in my life that are actually positive and going well. I also appreciate having the messages available on demand and have been making it a point to read one whenever I feel annoyed or frustrated about things beyond my control. I highly recommend for anyone, whether youโre in recovery or simply in need of something to put your mind in a better place.
